does anyone also own bluegreen vacation club points and do they transfer easily or equally? We just bought into bluegreen at the Big Cedar Lodge in Branson and need to know how much trouble and extra expense it is to go to Disney on our points. Thank you.

I am a bluegreen owner. You trade into DVC through RCI. Availability isn't guaranteed, of course. They deposit weeks and you just have to keep checking. We were able to snag BLT this past January. It was something like $179 for the RCI fee, then Disney charges you $99 at the resort for transportation/cleaning, etc. For our one bedroom unit, in January, I'm thinking it was 11,000 points. In order to have the free RCI membership, you would have had to purchase through BG directly, or gotten qualified points through Pinnacle. But since you said you bought at Big Cedar, you probably do. It's in the Traveler's Plus section of the website.

FWIW....we love our BG ownership. Some people don't. But we use it, and bought most of our points resale. I'd be happy to answer any questions I can.

I don't know much about the bluegreen system. Just hoping you at least bought resale and if not, are you still in your rescind period?

i'd agree that you should rescind if you can. resale is a much better deal:

bluegreen pts do not "transfer" with DVC pts. you'd have to deposit your bluegreen reservation into RCI (a timeshare exchange service) so another timeshare owner can use it and then try to find a DVC reservation that is available in RCI. planning ahead of time and requesting the reservation 10-12 months in advance is recommended. but TUG is really a better place to learn about how to use bluegreen.

This is no longer the case. There is no deposit of weeks. You can just go on the website and book, no deposit required, it just takes your points and your exchange fee. I think it has been this way for over a year now. Like I said, I would be happy to help where I can.

Thank you for the responses and we are within the rescind period but don't really want to. We were happy with the deal and the incentatives. and yes I will probably be asking for a lot help. Thank you

We're platinum with BG and while I love BG as I use it, I'd suggest you consider getting out if you can. you can buy resale for essentially free plus closing. You'll lose little but if you are set on a larger contract for the Premier status options, you can do that resale for around $1.25 a point. As for trading it, it is possible to do so but BG is likely not the best option to do so currently.
