So just ate at Blue Zoo in the Dolphin. If looking for a great meal I highly recommend this place. It’s a beautiful restaurant and service was top notch. The food was outstanding. My wife has a salt intolerance and the made her meal over the top. I had the scallops appetizer with short rib and the simply fish, swordfish, comes with a great risotto and vegetables. My wife had grilled ahi tuna with scallops enhancements. I have eaten at flying fish twice and for me I haven’t had a good meal there. (Just my opinion don’t kill me I know flying fish is a fan favorite) but Blue Zoo wow. I can’t recommend highly enough

Sounds like you had a wonderful meal and I’m really happy for you 🙂
Unfortunately after two tries it’s off my list; I’m not a three strikes you’re out type of person, lol.

Ditto. Just gave it my second try this week and the Mahi was way overcooked. First time in June it was the Sword they way overcooked. (And no, I didn’t send it back either time. I hate sending back food.)

That's unfortunate! Sometimes it seems like a dining experience can change significantly based on how busy a place is or what staff they have in the kitchen.

This is generally why I like to try places twice, if both times are equally bad then it's probably the restaurant. In a perfect world yes you want consistancy for the price you pay however robots aren't cooking the food(yet) so us humans can have bad days.

Another major thumbs up for the food and service at Blue Zoo. We've enjoyed our experiences there several times and will go back again - our favorite restaurant at the Swan/Dolphin resort.

My first and only experience there to date was not stellar. I have to eat low fat, so I got the mahi mahi and asked for no sauce. It was so bland. Seems to me the fish should stand on its own. The bigger issue is that I froze in the dining room. So cold. I was solo this day, so I chose Blue Zoo because my family does not eat fish. I would probably try it again, but ask for the leanest sauce on the side. Next solo trip I will likely try Flying Fish instead.

Mahi mahi is a lean white fish and probably did need the sauce. For a fish that stands alone…salmon, swordfish, hake, scrod or cod would be better choices.
I can’t believe I’m defending blue zoo 🤣

I have had really flavorful mahi before, so this surprised me. I will try something g else if I return.

Maybe the other times the kitchen used a dry rub to flavor the fish? Wasn’t there but kind of makes sense.

Oh and they have a 20% DVC discount they gave me
Wonder if this is back for all or it was just a one off for you. BlueZoo was our favourite for years but between Covid and the removal of the DVC discount, we just moved on to other restaurants. Hope the discount is back to stay.

We haven’t eaten at Blue Zoo for a few years but we really enjoy their happy hour. The drinks and service are always good.

We ate there again and they gave the DVC discount but this time it was only 10%. I didn’t say anything that it was 20% a few days ago and just took what they gave. They had the magical dining going on which was a $60 menu. Nice options and came with app, entree, and dessert. One of our party opted for the flatbread. It wasn’t very good but everything else was excellent again. One had the 2lb lobster Cantonese and it was excellent. It’s expensive but easily fed 2 people

Great. Will be there in a few weeks and will give it a try again. We used to get the Lobster. Again, Pre-Covid when it was $65.

I ate there for the first time in May and really enjoyed it. I also thought it was a good deal with the 20% DVC discount.

We’ve been talking about popping in, but I’m a bit confused by the hours on the Swan & Dolphin app - it says the lounge opens at 5pm but that Happy Hour is 4-6pm. Have you visited before 5?
