I'm watching their reviews very closely. They seem to be pretty new to the on-line scene. But, they do have the best price on my 30D. So if they keep their noses clean for the next month and a half, they'll have themselves another customer. :thumbsup2

Yeah but they have a grand total of 14 reviews and all of them within the last month.

And they dont have any reveiws on sites such as pricegrabber, where Etailers such as Buydig has over 18 thousand reviews.

Not saying it is a scam site or that the owners have been trying to raise their own ratings by posting fake reviews, but it does seem funny.
1. No resellerratings reviews prior to June 14th.
2. 14 reviews since June 14th, 10 reviewers have not reviewed any other seller and signed up the same day they reviewed bluestripe.
3. Buydig only has 4 reviews during that same time period and is many times more well known.
4. The About us section of their own website states they have been selling ONLINE for about 10 years, seems odd that they had no reviews anywhere prior to May 21 2006(BizRate).
5. The link to BBB from their own site contradicts their 10 years in business claim, it states they have been in business for one year and joined the BBB about 2 weeks ago.
6. If you run a whois on the website this is what comes up.

Well... it's kinda misleading anyway...

Blue Stripe Photo isn’t your average online retailer. Among the earliest to sell consumer electronics online, Blue Stripe Photo has been around for more than 10 years. Through all those years, our goal has been to earn the trust of our customers. To do this, we knew we had to offer competitive pricing; but we also knew low prices alone could not make our business superior. We were determined to combine honest and helpful dealings with outstanding service before, during, and after the sale. We understood that long term customer satisfaction depended on our ability to maintain a knowledgeable and courteous customer service staff assisted by the best support systems.

It doesn't say they've been selling online for 10 years. The sentance is misleading but says two different things: 1) Among the earliest to sell consumer electronics online and 2) has been around for more than 10 years.

But anyway...

Like I said previously, if they keep their nose clean for another month and a half (and their prices low) I'll be giving them a shot.

The 10 year claim might be true... under another name. The Brooklyn-area scam artists are notorious for switching names once sales tail off due to bad reviews. Some outfits have half a dozen "DBA's". I also wonder if the across-the-board ratings of "10" are schill reviews designed to suck people in. Almost all of the reviewers are first-timers.

Here's some more info: DPReview Forum Thread on Blue Stripe The outfit is looking more legit, but it looks like you may want to ask about their shipping fees before ordering. One person reported it was $50 for a camera! They also responded to one questioner that the "10 years" was mostly in the wholesale business (on the internet?). They said they just started doing retail, per their claim.

It is ONE sentance, I would agree if it was two seperate sentances, but lets say I agree with you. IMO there was still obvious intent to represent themselves as being an online dealer for more than 10 years.

Again not saying it is a scam, just seems fishy and less than 100% honest IMO. You can still get a great deal from businesses that try to misslead or missrepresent themselves.

Also
IMO $19 savings on a 30D over more reputable/established dealers is not worth the risk, but thats just me.

Well if you notice that one person claiming to be a customer with good with positive feedback, he has never been heard from again. Just seems odd to me that persons register on sites like RESELLERRATINGS and DPREVIEW just to give a postitive review about BLUESTRIPE and then vanish. And it is the same poster that gave the info about the "10 years".

Good catch about the DPR poster. I agree this place probably warrants a big "yellow flag" at this point.
