Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs has opened at the Boardwalk

Feels like dejavu of Space220 and Rivers of Light.

Next trip, next trip, next trip, next trip… and then finally:

Wow, look at that! Is it really open? 🤣
They are experts at building anticipation, so we are more excited than we should be when it finally happens :)

The only difference being one is a corn dog stand....LOL that's the part that makes me laugh. I mean there's no sitting area. it's a 15' x 10' building basically. Just think it's funny.

The Bake Shop is obviously much larger and a much more in-depth construction project turning the old ESPN Club into a bake shop. Personally, I'd prefer the ESPN Club, but I'm sure I'm in the minority.

Very true haha. And it’s copying something that already exists at Disneyland.

Back in May the WDW menu was revealed. 2 months later… 😂 Still no opening date.

I’m really hoping to try the pickle dog the first week of September this year ☺️.
I tried a pickle dog when I was at Disneyland and it wasn't what I was expecting. It was a huge Claussen-type pickle that was breaded on the outside with the hot dog in the middle. For some reason I thought that it would be the other way around (a sliver of pickle inside the corn dog). It was...weird. Greasy and too much pickle ration to hot dog. I ended up throwing it away after a few bites but YMMV.

Oh definitely... MMMV. ;)
I love them, but i love pickles too, so that could help. lol

I love pickles too, so I’m good with the pickle to hot dog ratio.
😃😂
But I get the disappointment if you expected more hot dog and less pickle.

Does anyone know if this will have the giant mozzarella stick like in Disneyland?

Much waiting... for Corndogs? And overpriced cake.... The Boardwalk area is really suffering...

I'd disagree.

The Boardwalk is great. Personally I find it the best of all DVC areas. The evenings with performers and the snack options are fantastic.

But to be ready or question why a food stand takes 9 months to complete isn't anything more than laughing that it's taking so long.

Suffering it's not.

I miss both ESPN and Big River Grille. Not all families want to eat at expensive restaurants. The original Boardwalk area was balanced with the affordable restaurants, as well. I hope Disney gets going in replacing Big River Grille, hopefully with a great quick service option. Come on Disney!!

Unfortunately, Big River Grille wasn’t very popular.

ESPN was great, perfect to catch sports while the family was napping. I only wished they had opened much earlier, would have been nice to go watch some European Soccer, F1, etc early in the morning.

My girlfriend has been talking about getting a pickledog since they announced this last summer. We went in December but knew it wouldn't be open, then thought maybe our February trip, but no. Surely our May or June trip! Nope... We are going in two weeks but highly doubt it will open by then. Maybe by October...

At this point I am wondering which will take longer, converting Splash Mountain to Tiana's, or converting a food stand into a corn dog centric food stand.

You could probably get to Disneyland and get a pickle dog faster. ;)

Well, Tiana’s is already open at WDW, so I guess there’s your answer? :cutie:

Suffering it's not.
But it is in the sense that ESPN and the brewpub are gone and the area still has construction. Their new replacements have yet to open, so in the meantime, it is suffering.

We tried the Deli twice. First time was decent, but the second time, the corned beef was VERY greasy, and the pickles were very strong/tart/sour. The dessert there are good, but we have no interest in eating the sandwiches for a long time. They were drippy greasy, to the point the bread was soggy with grease.

We liked the Trattoria fairly well, so the Boardwalk is not all bad, but the replacement dining options are long overdue.

I wouldn't disagree with that.

I've only gotten a ham sandwich at the Deli, kind of hard to mess that up, LOL.

The little ice cream shop is decent, but service is very slow. We like Trattoria and the outside counter pizza is good if you just need a late snack, etc.

There's the margarita place that's good, we've only gotten a pretzel and dole whip smoothie though.

I will always miss ESPN and it's hard to replace.

My argument is the Boardwalk still offers evening entertainment and options that no other resort offers in the late evening. You can easily grab an ice cream or slice of pizza and watch epcot fireworks, etc. So I still wouldn't say it's Suffering, it's just not as good as it can and will be even though I will continue to miss the ESPN area.
