A couple of days ago I booked a long weekend trip to Universal studios to celebrate two of my kids birthdays in September. I totally missed that there is going to be a scary Halloween party each night we’re there at Universal! Whoops! My kids will be 6,8, and 10 when we go. There’s absolutely no chance we’ll be attending those parties. So I was looking at what else we can do in the evenings once we leave the park. We’re staying on-site in a minion room, so I know I want time to play at the hotel pool and all.

We were just at WDW after Thanksgiving and attended a MVMCP. It was busy but fun. I wasn’t interested in doing Disney at all this trip since we were there for a week last time, but then I saw that I could buy tickets for MNSSHP. Or we could go to Blue Man group. We’ve never attended either. I think my kids would LOVE Blue Man group, but of course Disney is always fun too. Ugh. We’re only staying 4 nights (first night we arrive late since we flying out after school ends) so I think doing both would be too much.

Just looking for opinions and thoughts. Thanks!

I enjoy MNSSHP more than Blue Man. But my personal choice would be to skip both- plan for pool time. It'll be HOT in September and the pools will be open late. Pool time, maybe mini golf at City Walk- save the $$ for some Universal souvenirs or maybe a character breakfast at Universal.

In my opinion the Halloween party blows away Christmas for a number of reasons. The biggest one is how the crowd is really into it. We've been to both parties already, with the last Halloween party having been about 6 years ago. We were pleased to see that we can make the 2nd party on the calendar this year in late August. Since the entirety of our trip is Universal this go-around, it will be nice to sneak away to MK from 4 to 12 one night. Making sure to get our "food on" before hand and eating at the Wilderness Lodge before going to the event so that we can maximize our time in the park. Can't wait.

We've done Blue Man Group, I think the audience was mostly adults if I recall.

If you had your heart set on doing something special, I would probably do MNSSHP.

I agree with pattyw
Even though I love love love MNSSHP and we are going in OCT ourselves, you only have a few short days.
Enjoy the amenities of staying onsite at Universal this trip!

I did not like BMG at all :-(

Thanks everyone! I have a habit of overscheduling. After reading your comments, I did more research about the hotel to see what there was to do there. I bet you’re right that my kids would love more time to play there. They were a bit disappointed we didn’t have more time to play at AoA late last fall when we went to Disney.

I have to add that DH and I were at HRH and rented a cabana in February. It was just the two of us and enjoyed our day! They have games at the pool for kids and adults(adults win drink prizes!). We watched as the kids had so much fun! We so enjoyed watching these kids as ours are all grown up!

They were working together on all kinds of activities. We talked to a mom that said her kids were having so much fun that they asked if they could stay there instead of go back to the park in the evening! Mom was so relieved!! She wanted to stay too but figured the kids would rather be at the park!

So enjoy your down time!!
