Blue Lagoon Spur of the Moment?

DH and I have been to Blue Lagoon to do the Dolphin Swim before but not to hang out at the beach area. We really don't care to commit to the excursion in advance in case we are having fun on board the ship with 2 dds and just decide to stay on the ship. Also, if the weather does not make for a great beach day, we would rather not go off the ship. So my question is, has anyone just decided to go to the beach at Blue Lagoon on the day you arrived in Nassau, gone to the Paradise Island ferry terminal, and gotten a boat ride over there?
