blue ice packs on planes

This is the first time my family is flying in 12 years.
I am wandering if I can bring frozen ice packs in my carry on coming home from Orlando to Canada ( Toronto)

I don't know what the rules are when you go through the security check-point in Canada, but on your way home, the US TSA will not allow ice gel packs. (There in an exception for "gels or frozen liquids needed to cool disability or medically related items used by persons with disabilities or medical conditions.")

My guess is that the rules in Canada are the same, but you would want to check the appropriate Canadian website.

If it's not medical use, consider dry ice or bags of frozen vegetables instead.

Yes, non-flammable liquids and gels, including frozen gel packs, are allowed in checked luggage by the US TSA. (Rules in other countries may be different.)

As with any liquid or gel in checked luggage, keep in mind that checked bags are regularly dropped, thrown, and crushed. So make sure that any liquid or gel is packed in such a way the it will not burst onto the contents of your bag (and other passengers' bags).

Also, all checked bags a x-rayed. Dense objects and liquids increase the chance that your bag will be opened for inspection.

TSA (US) and CATSA (Canadian) do have some different rules. For example, CATSA allows snow globes in your carry-on provided that it fits in your 1 litre baggie (TSA will not allow snow globes of any size). On the other hand, CATSA doesn't allow pointed scissors, while TSA does as long as they are 4inches or smaller.
