blue crabs at VB -- only in Aug?

We were at VB last year around Aug. 21 and the blue crabs were out in full force. A cm told us they do this every year. Anyone know when they typically start their pilgrimage and how long it lasts? Last year it was an anniversary trip so we didn't take the kids but I'd love to try to take them one year to see it.

This is the first I've heard of this. It must be a short period of time because we've been there in during all the summer months and never encountered it. I'm assuming they are migrating

It really was an awesome thing to see! They were all over the place a day or so after we arrived. We had more fun walking across the street and watching them! They'd start to cross the street, feel a car coming, and run back! Really was something! I'd love to see it again!

We saw these on Labor Day weekend a couple years back. I think they were calling them "land crabs". They were everywhere... all over the highway, along the sidewalks, even a couple made it into the pool.
