Blue card expiry

If you have an iPhone you can save the image to photos (or copy / paste) and then put that into a Note and pin the note to the top of your list of notes. Easy to access. I’m sure this could be accomplished in Google Keep on Android as well.

Not true, my original card which I still carry simply says Use Year Begins AUG and Membert's since 12/93 the one with 2 snow capped mountains .I've never carried any other card.

Your original card pre-dates resale/direct distinctions - it's not a "blue card."

If you do have issues in October, remember that it's you that is choosing to ignore the policy so don't hassle the cast members...

The physical blue cards with expiration dates of 12/31/2021 were first issued in 2016 (basically a 5-year term). To my knowledge, all physical cards sent out since then have had that same expiration date on them. The digital cards expire 3 months from the date accessed online, with the expiration date changing whenever the card is accessed online. Speculation has been that the expiration dates were to minimize people enjoying DVC benefits after selling their ownership, but DVC never sent out an official statement to confirm that. I agree with Sandi that we may not get new physical cards in future, after our current ones expire. Confirming membership will be digital after that point.
If I'm selling off my DVC it's because I'm done going to WDW.No one will have to worry that I'll go back and use an expired card.

We purchased in '94. I had no idea our blue card had an expiration date until I saw this post and checked our cards. Sure enough, they expire the end of this year.

I will say in our past trips castmembers never really asked to see the back of our ap cards (date of issue on them) or even id with them. This past trip I think they asked to see the back every time for the date and id, same when we used dvc about id. I think they are starting to crack down on the policies a lot more because of all the people who abuse them, etc and a plethora of people who probably still have passholder cards but aren't really passholders anymore...We were glad we got a new passholder card on our first day since when we renewed in the past they never gave us one.

I think we will see the change away from physical cards and digital will be it with the 3 month expiration.

As mentioned, it’s to prevent someone from selling and still using it.
I hope digital will not be the only choice. I want a real physical card. I guess they'll save millions having members print the paper ones out. Don't tell me to use my smartphone. I don't have or need one.

If you want to stay unplugged, I was told by MS to print out a copy from the website and carry the paper copy and an ID. (This was when we purchased and waited a long while to receive our cards to begin with. I balked at the idea of needing to keep my awful phone charged to show proof of membership.)

And get it laminated, like your bus pass and Blockbuster card from 1989...
