Has anyone taken this service to visit the glacier ?? I read it is conveniently located in the dock area but have gotten conflicting amounts for what is charged for their service. Is a tour or just a transportation service ? We just want a method of getting to the glacier. I'm assuming it would be more economical than booking through Disney/

We did one of the Mendenhall Glacier shuttles (through Juneautours) in 2016. Looks like prices have gone up $15 since then. Both Juneautours and the blue bus (glacier express through m&m tours) are $45/person roundtrip, (juneautours is $40 for kids 3-12). As I said, we did Juneautours glacier shuttle--it runs every 1/2 hour, get on at any time. Our drivers talked about Juneau and Tlingit culture for both directions of the drive....so it's slightly a tour while they're driving you the 25 minutes to the glacier.

The cheapest way would be to take the public bus, but the closest stop is 1 1/2 miles from the visitor center. Another option is to rent a car for the day and drive there yourself.

We rented a car for the day. Easy-peasey and the total was $98 plus gas (and not touring with four bazillion of our not so closest friends)

I second checking out a rental car. For a family of 4 we found it was about $25 less to get the car. We then had time to explore not only Mendenhall but Eagle Beach and other areas. The scenery was spectacular and something I will never forget.

I purchased tickets on the dock for the White Bus, which is basically the same as the Blue Bus. Both run frequently. When we were waiting at the stop to take the bus back to the dock, the Blue Bus said they would let us ride with them (no extra charge). I would use either service again. The Blue Bus driver gave a narrative about the history of the area as we were driving back to the dock.
