How do you get the waterside tables at the Blue Bayou? Do you request it when you make your reservation? My nephew 9 has been wanting to do this forever and talks about it all the time. I am trying to take him in Dec. Since this will likely be our last time in a loooooong time I want to make it as amazing as possible.

We make the ressie for the first opening at lunch(1130) and request waterside. If you are amoung the first ressie you will get waterside. We usually checkin about 20 minutes early at the podium outside.

I totally agree with Jack.

Sixty (60) days prior, you can call Disney Dining (714) 781-DINE and make a reservation for 11:30am -- that's the first time for lunch at BB. (I'm pretty sure that asking the CM, on the telephone, for a waterside table won't make a difference.)

Like Jack wrote, I would arrive at 11:10am and ask the CM at the BB that you would like a waterside table. (This probably won't happen, but if the CM says that there will be a long wait, just tell them that you're willing to wait.)

HTH :earsboy:

Since the day we eat their is usually our anniversary or my birthday I also ask them to add this to the ressie. Last year I got a nice mousse with a candle.

Yep. What Jack said. I followed his advice for our trip a couple of months ago. I made a lunch reservation for the first seating at 11:30, went to the podium 20 minutes before our res. and requested waterside at that time. They gave us a menu to look over while we stood outside and waited to be seated. When it was time to go in, we ended up being the first party seated and got a great waterside table. :thumbsup2

When I ate there last year I just asked and said we would wait for waterside seating to be available, letting others pass us. So we had a nice waterside seat, it never hurts to ask...and if you have the time then tell them you're willing to wait for one :)

We normally do as Jack said. One time we had a later reservation and let them know we would wait. Our hostess was a bit snarky about it and said it would be anywhere from 30-60 min. to wait, we said "that's fine, we will wait" and we had our waterside table in about 15 minutes. :) So when you check in just ask and let them know you're willing to wait.

That is exactly what happened with us....we made an earlier dinner reservation (I think ours was at 4:30 or so) and just told them we would wait for the waterside table. I think we waited 20 minutes tops even though we were told an hour or so.

The procedure is:

When you check in to be seated with your entire party present, request a waterside table. You will be quoted an expected wait time based on the size of your party and how many guests are already waiting for waterside tables that can accommodate your party. Sometimes the answer is "right now", sometimes 20 to 40 minutes, sometimes longer for large parties.

It never hurts to ask. Sometimes the answer is "right away", and sometimes it is "2nd row right now, 30 to 45 minutes for waterside" which means you can be one row of tables away from the rail immediately.

You will be asked to remain at the restaurant with your party for the entire wait time, as things often happen and you may be paged much sooner than the time quoted - if you are not there, the table will be given to the next person who is waiting for "waterside".

Last time we went we had a reservation around 12:00 and asked and waited only 5 minutes. We are going in August and I made the reservation for 11:30 I asked about waterside and the CM on the phone told me I was the 4th reservation for the day and would get waterside I think she said there are 12 tables by the water so I would for sure get one. She said it actually works in order of reservations made not arrival time or asking at the stand. She said make sure I am not late though. I plan to arrive about 20 minutes early and ask for a waterside just to make sure but this is what she told me not sure how accurate that is though?

Does BB shut down between lunch and dinner? So you could reserve a table for when it reopens for dinner? Or do you just reserve an early dinner seating and hope it works out?

It does change over but I think it is only 1/2 hour. We made our dinner ressies for 1610, that was the earliest we could get them.

Jack

Blue Bayou does not shut down between lunch and dinner. There is a short break in seating between 3:45 and 4:00 to accommodate the changeover in the kitchen to the dinner menu and the shift change for the servers.
