Blue Bayou

They only charge extra if you ask for a shared plate fee. Then they give you two sides, two salads and two plates.

If you just under ONE thing and ask for an extra plate (but specify you don't want to do the shared fee), then they'll bring you an extra plate and you can split up everything yourselves. WITH NO EXTRA FEE!!!

You get a little less food this way, but if you're ordering appetizers and all, you probably will be glad for that. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the quick reply. That sounds perfect! We won't be wanting the extras. If we wanted 2 of most everything, we'd order 2 entrees.

Ooooooo I love me a Monte Cristo!!! I'm having my birthday lunch there next month and am so anticipating the caloric disaster I'll be enjoying every bite of!!

I'm eating here next week and I can't wait, I have a 3:30 PS. I love POTC and wish WDW had a restaurant themed this way.

I haven't been to DL since 1986 so this will be incredible.

Don't know what time you made your lunch PS for, but we did it according to the tip we found here: You get a PS for the first lunch seating at 11:30. Show up at 11:15 and check in at the podium, and request waterside. Otherwise you could be in for quite a wait, especially if you request waterside.

There's a report from our lunch there in my TR, linked in my signature below. It's on page 6. There are pics of our food. DD had the buccaneer beef short ribs, and they were SOOOO good. I would have had them if I'd known. My Tesoro Island Chicken was ok.

I love BB. I hope you have fun!

Ooh thank you for this!! the menu and the tip on when to arrive. I really want to sit waterside. :)

And thanks for the pictures that prime rib looks delish!!

What time would you recommend if we wanted to get waterside seating for dinner? Just two of us going.

We have eaten there numerous times. Big time $$$, great atmosphere for most.
Jack

I've eaten there once. Definitely worth at least one visit. As Jack said, great atmosphere. I thought the food was OK but sharply overpriced for what you get. But again, it is worth going at least once :-).

Rob

Four weeks and three days until we'll be at DL again.

Since they're open from 11:30 until closing time, it doesn't really matter. They will be packed all day. Make your PS's for whenever you want, get there 15 minutes early, and be prepared to wait for up to an hour for waterside. Most people report being able to get it within 30 minutes after their original PS time. I think it's fairly worth it to wait, if you can, because the center or back of the room can be pretty noisy and crowded.

I saw on the menu that they have a shared plate fee. My DH & I will probably share a Monte Cristo. I'm curious to try one, since they don't have them at WDW. We often share 1 or 2 appetizers, an entree & dessert. (The amount we order depends on whether it's lunch or dinner. I'm thinking we may go to BB for lunch.) I'd rather have a shared plate fee than not order what we actually want. I'm just curious to know if they really do charge extra.

They charge the split plate fee when you actually split the plate, I think with ordering appetizers, your meal and dessert you will be fine without the extra sides. We have not yet done the split plate at BB but anticipate doing so soon, I think DD13 and I may be sharing a plate on our next visit. :)

About how far in advance do you need to do PS for the here??

You can make a PS 60 days in advance, but I have been able to make them for the next day during the off seasons.

I'm so glad I asked this question. We would have told them we were sharing a plate expecting them to bring one meal with a seperate plate & add $12 shared plate fee. Can you imagine our surprise when they brought what looked like 2 entrees. We'd be trying to convince our poor server that he/she had brought us the wrong order. :rotfl: Thanks to you & ter-moo, I now know what BB's version of a shared plate fee is.
