Blue Bayou ?

How can you get to sit by the water? Do you just ask and say you are willing to wait? Also, is there a better time during lunch to get the water view - right at 11:30 when they open, or?? THANKS!!

When we were there in Nov. it was around 2:30pm or so and we simply asked the hostess if it was possible to be seated by the water she said yes if there were tables available if not we would have to wait....we lucked out, a table was available and it was great. The kids loved being able to see all the people going by on the POTC ride and seeing the "fireflies" in the reeds.

One thing I haven't heard people mention about the Blue Bayou is just how dark it is in there. You can barely see anything, even after your eyes adjust (I'm not a cat! I still couldn't see the colors of my food.).

When you book your reservations (and make sure you do it on the day), put in your request for the water view.

FWIW, we have six in our family and BB has two waterside tables that can handle six. In 2005 I requested waterside when I made the PS. I made it for 11:30AM right when they opened. We got there at about 11:10 and when we checked in I reminded them of our waterside request and they said they saw it on our PS.

In any case, we got seated by about 11:35 and got the waterside, which was totally worth it.

From what I understand, PS does not really reserve you a table, just speeds up the process. If you go right when they open like we did, it is easier to get seated more quickly and get the waterside table.

We also have a family of six and had waterside last August. We made the ressie's for 1130 and we were 1st in line. Was very nice.

I hate to report this but in probably 8 visits to Blue Bayou (with parties as small as four and as large as 7) we have yet to get a waterside table. I have sometimes made them for the first seating and requested it each time I made the ps but no luck. We have gotten the second row back from the water but never waterside. We have still had a lot of fun (even when we were seated in the furthest row back from the water). I just want to mention that there are no guarantees with this. I am going to try my luck again this June but have my doubts! But the monte cristo goes down just as well regardless of where you sit (and I should know)!

I was really dissapointed with the whole reservation process on our recent trip. We made our reservation 2 months in advance..and requested waterside. They told us we had to request it when we arrived at the restaurant. Our reservation was for 1:20. We arrived at the restaurant at 1 and requested waterside. They told us it would be 45-1hr for that. Ummm why did we make a reservation then?? 10-15 minutes I can see......but to wait up to an hour just seemed rediculous. It was for 3...including my son, 3, who was already getting tired, hungry and cranky so waiting for an hour was not doable for us. So we just said first available and called it good. After doing so a woman near me said it was probably the right thing to do, they too had reservations and waited OVER an hour for their waterside table. We still got a good seat....we were second row in so it wasn't bad. But I learned a valuable lesson......if your reservation is at 1..check in at noon.

A friend of mine and I are going May 6-11 and we really want to eat at the Blue Bayou. I have been worrying over when to make the "reservation" because I have never done this before. I don't want there to be no tables for the day/time that we are available. Is it really best to do it that day? Should I make it in person or is it better to call like in the morning? I too would love a water table since I never know when I will make it back. With no kids waiting most likely won't be a big deal, I just want to make a "reservation" the right way so i don't miss eating there completely. Also what would you experienced dinners suggest to eat?

I have a question about BB. The Monte Cristo sandwich. Does it also have a sweet puree you can dip your sandwich in. Like at cafe orleans. I hope so, because I happen to like sweet, and salty. If not, how is that maple brined pork chop? I am going for lunch. TIA

The monte cristo at BB does have a sweet jelly type thing to dip your sandwich in.

As for waiting for an hour to get waterside seating, that is the choice I have always had to get that particular table type. Request table side seating is just that, a request. They will not guarantee you get a table by the water even when you make that request on your priority seating. And priority seating simply guarantees that you get "priority". Its not a guaranteed time to be seated with or without special requests. They usually make that pretty clear on the recorded message you listen to before the cm comes on at the Disneyland dining number. There are limited tables by the water and everybody wants them. So the odds are not all that good especially the later times. By the time 1:20 runs around the restaurant has been open for almost two hours and at that point its basically luck and extreme amounts of patience that will earn you a waterside table. You make a reservation to get the next available table at thte time on your priority seating only.

Yes, Amy is right. A PS is not a reservation in the typical sense that they are holding a table for you. It means that you will get priority over others who do not have a PS.

That is why we made a PS for 11:30AM when BB opens, because that meant there should be little wait and give us the best shot at waterside.

I am sorry the PP had to wait so long at 1:20PM, but it was probably a busy day at DL that day and is not very surprising for a place like the BB at that time of day.

We also tried at other times with no luck, but being there when it open viryually assured us a WS table. We may try again in August and see what happens.
