Dh and I are going to DL in March and I thought we would have one night of nice dining, is the Blue Bayou a good choice? Can anyone tell me the difference between the prime rib for lunch and the one for dinner...besides the price difference? How are the portions? Can I make a reservation thru Disney dining? How far in advance? Anything you can tell me about Blue Bayou would be great. Thanks.

The Blue Bayou was our favorite DL restaurant for sure. It seemed pricey when we made reservations, but not once we ate there. We all LOVED it. The food was delicious, best meal we had at DLR. The lunch portions were huge, and DH and I could have easily split a meal.

Also, a tip I learned is that when you get there, ask at the check in desk to wait for a water table. It may take a bit longer, but it is very, very worth it!

I am also curious how far ahead you can make ressies b/c I just booked a trip today for May and we want to have lunch or dinner there.

We ate there for lunch & I had the prime rib. It was wonderful! I don't know if the portions are bigger for dinner, but lunch was more than enough - would have been a big waste of good food if it had been any bigger!

If you make reservations for 11:30 (when they open), you don't have to wait for the waterside seating.

When my DH and I made reservations for dinner at the BB we weren't really sure what to expect either but we were pleasantly surprised. We were told it would be about a half hour wait for water side table but we actually only waited about five minutes and the setup was quite romantic. The salad was fabulous that came with the meal and my DH got the gumbo which he said was really good although Cafe Orleans was better. The experience was really the best dining experience we'd had at Disneyland and when we go back we'll definately make reservations again. Our server told us to keep our menus as a memento and we've showed it to all our friends and family since we've been back.
We made our reservations about a month in advance so I'm not sure if you can make reservations sooner than that or not. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the food was. It was FABULOUS.

I've been hearing from people that the BB has taken a pronounced downhill turn. I've heard complaints about the new menu, the service... all very disheartening.

We ate there on Saturday and it was great. This was our 3rd time this year and I'd even say it was the best. We hardly had to wait (lunch was at 2:00). They were not taking any walk-ups so it wasn't over crowded. We waited less than 5 minutes and even got a waterfront table right in the center.

If anyone in your party is going to want the Monte Cristo, then you need to go at lunchtime. Call 714-781-DINE for reservations 60 days in advance. I like to go for a late lunch because it is a relaxing break in the day.

We have a ps for a late lunch at 2:30 on Christmas Eve.....this will be our first time eating there. I can't wait to try it! :santa:

We ate lunch there today, and all was wonderful. No complaints about the service, all our meals exceeded expectation and although pricey, was well worth the cost.

We went at 10:ooam Saturday morning to make lunch reservations and they said they were all booked up til 9pm sunday night. Told us to come back as a walk up just after they opened at 11:30am. We got there at 11:45 and got seated right away. Later in the day they were not taking more walk ups.

DBF and I ate there in October and it was great! I had the pork chop with veggies and potatoes. VERY good, best potatoes I have had in a while. We also had waterside seating and it was quite romantic. :goodvibes
Our server was great as well. It was a very enjoyable experience.

I'll be having my supper there tomorrow night, I have never been to DL so this is going to be fun for me....MICKEY get ready I'm on my way. Merry Christmas everyone.

We ate there recently, and our server was outstanding.

We ate there in October and LOVED it. Ambiance was romantic, food was delicious, portions were HUGE, service was great. No complaints. it was a bit pricey but you just plan for it. I think we could have shared a meal so it wasn't too bad. I highly recommend it.

Yes, we have almost always taken our kids at all ages! They love it! The kids menu is a pirate hat, and we have been known to request those all around. pirate:

Blue Bayou is definitely my favorite restaurant in the park; the atmosphere is the best. The Monte Cristo is usually what I order; not real great on the arteries, but it sure is tasty. Still, I prefer the menu selection BEFORE the remodel. Previously the dessert selection was much larger and you could choose from a wide selection brought to the table on a tray. Currently, the dessert selections are Key Lime Pie, Creme Brule, and a Cookie Boat (the best of the 3 - but don't try to eat the edible sugar sail - it is like eating a piece of plastic!). Most of the wait staff is extremely friendly. To make sure you get a waterside table, make a reservation for when they open (11:30am) and get there about 15 minutes early to check-in; this will increase your chances of being able to sit by the water. Portions are more than adequate; prices are more expensive now because they "include" the salad/soup with the entree. Still, for a special lunch/dinner, it's the best in the park.

We went to this restaurant on December 20, 2006. Made reservations 90 days in advance with the dining reservation line. Here is the dining reservation number (714) 781-DINE (3463). We were celebrating our third anniversary and I mentioned this when I made the reservation. You will get a special surprise after your meal. The meal was outstanding and well worth it. My husband had the prime rib and I had the filet mignon. Even the salad dressing was unique. Our server Asmon was excellent. Our coffee cups were constantly topped off. We waited the extra time to be seated next to the water and it was well worth the wait. Having been seated next to other fun people as my husband liked to taunt the people on the boats. And they also responded back to him, and other joined in at the restaurant. The highest point of the evening was when our server gave us a card and a chocolate moose with candles at our table. As he presented the chocolate moose to us the people on the boat passing by broke into song singing Happy Birthday. At first we could not believe that they all broke out in song when we could not even get them to all wave at us from the boat. When this happened everyone in the restaurant applauded. It was awesome. We highly recommend the Blue Bayou.

My best friend for 40 years and I were at BB on Dec. 12...she had the salmon, I had the short ribs. They were incredible...I am inspired to try and emulate the recipe at home! The Tortuga Trio of Creme Brulee was also divine. Everything was top notch...one of the highlights of our trip!:cheer2:
