Hi all,

This November I will be taking my two year old son to Disney for the first time for his Birthday. I am wanting to experience a Disneyland resteraunt being as this is my first time back at Disney in years! I am considering the Blue Bayou, somethint I have always wanted to experience. My other option is a character breakfast but I am unsure if he would even like the characters so that may be a disaster. Anyone experienced either and would like to give me some insight on their experience?

When you say older? How much older?

Honestly I think you should just ask him and let him choose his birthday meal. I mean Disney character dinning is good for all ages, but not everyone enjoys it as much as the next person.

Well I should have said he will be two in November. :) He is picky in what he eats too. I have never experienced character dining and would probably enjoy it more than him, mostly for the picture Ops, just don't know which character dining is the best. Plaza Inn? Ariels Grotto? Goofy's Kitchen?

I would do the character dining...and wait to do the BB when your child is older. A toddler is not going to "get" BB IMO.

^^This^^

BB is dark and there really isn't much for a 2 year old to enjoy. If you choose a character meal, I'd suggest asking him which characters he wants to meet, then find the meal that meets those needs.

Yep I figured...and Blue Bayou always seems very quiet and I would hate to ruin everyone elses dining experience if we had a terrible two incident. Well, here is to hoping he does not get afraid of the characters!

We did BB this summer with the kids, 4.5 and 7. They really enjoyed it and were really well behaved. I wouldn't have taken them at 2.5 and 5, though, as they would be just too young to enjoy it. They were pretty excited to be eating lunch "inside but outside" and loved that it was dark when it should have been light outside. They also loved being within the pirates ride. At age 2, though, I think all that wouldn't have mattered.

When DS was 2 we did Minnie and friends at Plaza Inn and the kids loved it so much that we go to this character meal on every trip.

I would go for the Character Meal. Save BB when he's school-aged and enjoys pirates. pirate:

hi! i would choose surf's up at the paradise pier hotel... he can see mickey, minnie, daisy, pluto and stitch.. the vibe is very relaxed and the food is good...
we found minnie and friends a bit too much.. (too many character, too many people, big place)
IMHO surfs up is very nice, organized and relaxed with fun music to dance with the characters..
show him some youtube videos and see is he gets excited.. that'a what i did amd my dd k ew exactly what to expect..
you will have a great time anyway!!! :)

I would say Character Dining, but be prepared in case your son is afraid (mine is!) and be sure to let the characters know that your son is a bit afraid and they'll keep their distance a bit.

Rainforest Cafe is great for a 2 y/o too. Lots of colors and sounds.
