I'm planning on going to Blue Bayou for an early dinner reservation on my birthday. This is a place I've always wanted to go to since I was a kid. Unfortunately, the only vegetarian option is the portobello mushroom and I really don't care for mushrooms too much.

I've heard that they can do an adult portion of the kids mac and cheese. Has anyone been able to order this, and if so, does it still come with a starter salad?

Thanks!!

I don't know about the mac & cheese but I swear someone on here said they asked for vegetarian pasta and were given something yummy. I am vegetarian and I ate the mushroom dish. It was good, but it was a wee bit salty. If I ever go back I would ask for the pasta! Maybe someone else can chime in.

I'm also a vegetarian and have eaten at BB three or four times. They've always made me the mushroom dish with gluten-free noodles, which I enjoyed. However, at $29.95, it felt a touch overpriced. But I get it: we're paying for atmosphere. As I recall, the chef came out each time and conferred with me. I suspect if you tell your server that you're vegetarian and would like to speak with the chef, he/she will do the same for you. I hope you find something you like.

Also, FWIW, for lunch you may like to try the veggie tacos at Rancho del Zocalo. They're pretty good. They're easily made vegan, if you so desire.

Yes, the tacos are a good veg option. They can even trade the rice for extra veggies.

At bb I had fish so I'm actually peskitarian. They will make something for you and it will likely have a started salad. :)

I had a vegetarian burrito at Rancho on Monday. Nom nom!!

The kids M&C is so rich that I can't imagine being able to even eat an adult sized portion!
