When we go to BB I will ask for a waterside table - I guess the wait can be 20-40 minutes additional? How many tables do they have that aren't waterside? How come everyone doesn't wait for the waterside tables?

There are quite a few that are not waterside! Basically tables line the waterside and then the whole middle of the place and the back are not waterside tables.

We got lucky, we only waited 5 minutes for our waterside table. They were telling us 45 minutes. Getting there earlier before your time is best. We got stuck on the Pirates so we couldn't show up earlier like we wanted too. So yes that 5 minute wait was really lucky! LOL

I have wondered that myself. The only explaination I could think of would be that people don't want to wait for an undetermined amount of time to eat... Especially if they are hungry!

Also, I have heard that the waterside tables don't accomodate larger parties of 6+... So that could be another reason.

I believe they have approx. 13 waterside tables. If you make your reservation for the earliest time offered for lunch, you are guaranteed a water table. (They only accept 13 ressies for that time slot). After this time, you have to request waterside when you show up for your ressie. Obviously, if everyone waited for a waterside table, not many people would actually get to eat there.

i had a water side tabel my first and only time there. i rember hem asking me what i wanted and I said a nice view they laugehd and set us next to the water. lol i dont rember much but that was cute.

if a pay of six is going couldnt you reseve 2 tabels?

Thanks everyone! Now I have to decided between lunch and dinner. I would rather do this type of meal at dinner but if it means it would be easier to get the waterside tables during lunch.....

Is the main difference between lunch and dinner the Monte Cristo? Looks like prices remain the same for both L & D and most everything is offered except the M.C.

Do they serve meals all day? Could we go at 4pm for dinner?

Personally, I prefer to go at lunch because of the Monte Cristo It's about 18.95, and the cheapest thing on the menu. At dinner, the prices are similar, but the items they don't have during lunch are all around $30, from what I remember. I don't remember whether dinner starts at 4 or 5, but when you call to make your reservation they can tell you for sure.

Having eaten at Blue Bayou 10+ times, (did I mention I LOVE eating there?) I've found what works for me is to have a late lunch. That way I'm super hungry and excited since I won't have eaten since morning, and then you have room for dessert! Plus, since it's so dark, especially if you have a waterfront table, it feels like it's dinner time even if it isn't.

I have made a ressie for lunch at 11:30. Is that the earliest??? Also there is 6 of us. Is there water side table for 6??? And if so what time should I show up for my ressie. Thanks

We have to head back to our hotel for naptime around Noon or 1pm so that is why I would prefer a dinner meal. No biggie on the M.C. we had one last year at Cafe orleans so I would plan to try something else at BB.

We ate at BB this past Monday. Our reservations were for 5:10. We asked for waterside seating. They told us it would be 15-30 minutes, but we only ended up having to wait about 10 minutes. We loved eating there(it was our first time), and will definitely eat there again next trip.

They open at 5pm for dinner. We have never had a water side table. We just want to get in and eat!

For some reason I never really realized there was a 'wait' for waterside tables. I was at DL last week and managed to get in for lunch one of the days that I was there, and I didn't even wait 5 minutes for a waterside table.

Twice we got there earlier than the ressie's, waited and still did not get waterside. Last year got there at 1115 for a 1130 ressie and got waterside, there are 6 of us. To me it is the luck of the draw and the size of the party. Only saw 2 waterside tables that would seat 6 and what I understand they will not combine at waterside. Good luck,

We ate there last week - did the 11:30 reservation and were the first to check-in so we were the first let into the restaurant AND we got waterside, center seats. When I asked for waterside on check-in they said I would get it because of the reservation time. It was an AMAZING meal. . . (more details will come in my eventual Trip Report). . . I would be willing to sit anywhere there, though. . . we enjoyed the food that much!

I am planning on making a reservation at BB for september (you can at 60 days out right?) Is it that much better to have a waterside table? We have 2 kids (6 and 1) and would obviously prefer to get a table sooner. Should we wait for one or will it still be wonderful even if not by the water? Thanks.

This was the first year I had had a waterside table and I got very upset with the fact that I was even closer to the idiots on the ride who were deciding to take flash photos of the restaurant! I would actually have rather been in a bit more than on the water.

We are going in August, and are planning to go for lunch. There are 7 of us, as my mom & dad are joining us for their first trip ever to DL! Does that mean there is no hope of a waterside table? We could always split into 2 groups, but that kind of ruins the intent of a nice meal together.

We will likely go for lunch (monte cristo is my mom's fave), but which day? Our stay includes a weekend, and I was almost thinking a nice long lunch in the midst of a very crowded and hot weekend day might be a good thing - probably in early/mid afternoon. Is that a reasonable plan?

If this kind of thing bothers you, I would definitely stay away from waterside tables. During one meal, from just about every boat that went by one or two people would ask us how the food was or yell something silly. It doesn't bother me that much, but it is a little strange having a lot of people going by and watching you while you eat...

We enjoyed having lunch in the heat of the day after many of the families had already eaten. We mad reservations for 2pm and had just a short wait for a waterside table. Enjoy!
