Blue Bayou PS question

I just made PS for lunch at 11:30 AM at Blue Bayou for Sep. 20th. I asked the CM to please note our request for a waterside table. She said she cannot take down this request but we can ask the front desk when we get there. Does this sound like their standard policy?

Yes. If you want a table by the water then you'll have to wait for one if they are not available when you get there. I totally recommend that. At that time you probably won't have a problem though like you would at dinner. Good luck.

We had an 11:30 reservation in July and didn't have a problem getting a water side table. Just be sure you're there a few minutes ahead of your reservation time.

Yeah, since you're there at opening you most likely will automatically get a waterside table. They seat front to back.

I'll offer a dissenting opinion...

When we ate there in Nov02 for opening, the restaurant was booked full and everyone was there waiting before the actual opening. The CMs proceeded to call out party by party until the entire restaurant was full. I think they seated in order of when the PS was made. We made ours fairly late in the window and were one of the last ones seated.

I just offer this caution that you may not be as likely to get a water table as others have indicated.

I agree with this opinion as well. I did something similar...I booked a PS for the first seating (I booked only a few days prior). We got there about 15 minutes early, and the place really was a madhouse. I noticed that there were numbers on all the PS cards, and our card was placed in the middle of the stack the CM was holding. That led me to believe that it was in order of when the PS was made, because although other people checked in before us, we were still put ahead of some of them.

We did not ask for a waterside table, nor did we get one. We had eaten there twice before for lunch, the first time we got waterwide without asking, the second time we were only one row away from the waterside, which was very nice too. The most recent experience that I just mentioned, was by far the most chaotic, and we were seated quite far from the water. I couldn't really figure out why it was such a madhouse that day, it was a weekday and everything.

However, given how early you made your PS, I would guess that your chance of getting a waterside table (as long as you get there a few minutes early), would be good.

In any event, it is a beautiful restaurant no matter where you sit! Please let us know how things go when you return.

Please also note that late September is a very slow time period for DL, so your chances of getting the table you want increase.

We have PS for September 27. :)

How early in advance can you may a BB PS? We'd like to eat there in December (19-21st). Can we call already and book?

We always do exactly that, make the 11:30 PS and then get there early. We have gotten a waterside table the last 3 years.

I booked ours 50+ days, but I think it's only supposed to be 30 days. Also, some CM's do seat in the order the reservation was made regardless of what you request when you arrive, some don't. We saw parties of 10 people request a waterside table at 11:30 and didn't get it, but smaller parties did. Don't know if the number in your party has anything to do with it or not.

On our first trip in July this year, we called an made our PS the night before and got there 15 min. before our 11:30 ressie and got a watertable. Second July trip we called 10 days before and got there 15 min. early(again 11:30 ressie)and got a water table. Both times no problem.

We did notice that the bigger parties were seated in the back(10 or more) and only smaller parties were seated at the water(6 or less)

Thanks for all your replies.

When we last ate at Blue Bayou and requested a waterside table, we didn't get it. It might have been because it was over New Year holiday.

Here's hoping my birthday sticker will help us get a waterside table.

I'll let you all know what happened in my trip report.

:)

What time does the Blue Bayou open for lunch? On this posting it states 11:30am. On a different posting I read noon. Can someone please let me know? We are going to DL in November and I'm trying to make ressies for my husband's birthday. I'd like to make a PS for the 1st possible seating - in hopes of getting a water table.

Thanks!!
Kelly

We made a PS for BB at 11:30 about a year ago, so I'm pretty sure it's 11:30am.

We were there last June and asked for a water side table. We arrived 15 mins prior to our PS time and were told that it might be an additional 20-30 mins after our PS time, which was fine. The lobby/waiting area was pretty packed, with people filling the walkway outside the restaurant as well. We actually waited less than 10 mins so we were seated right on time, water side. I have to agree that it seems that parties of 4 or less will have more luck with a water side table request. The atmosphere was just magical to my DS8........he's still talking about it and has stated that we WILL go back again the next time we do DL!
