Blue Bayou menu

I read that they took ice cream off the menu. I'll know for sure soon. Our next meal there is only 17 days away. :)

Their dessert menu is seasonally based, and can change without notice at any time.
Currently what is being offered is Creme Brulee, Chocolate Lava Cake and Chocolate Mousse.
The really nice desserts that they once offered, still no word on when they might, if ever, return. I personally loved the Tortuga Trio of Creme Brulee.

Does anyone know if the cheesy mashed potatoes have pepper or spices in them or are they just mashed potatoes and cheese? I'm wondering if DD can have and would like them.

I was there a week ago and tasted no pepper/spices in them, or really anything (including cheese). Maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but I had no idea until reading the menu now that they were cheese mashed potatoes. They were very creamy and good though.

Ok.... we had lunch today there.
The cheesy mashed potatoes were not what we expected. They were very good, but not really special.

Desserts today were Chocolate Lava Cake with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and Key Lime pie.

We had an amazing meal as normal.

So then how did those cheesy mashed potatoes really taste? Enquiring taste buds would like to know. :)

To me they tasted like the au jus. Much more chicken-y than cheesy.

I'll agree with that. They were creamy, but not really cheesy. They did have a chicken broth sort of taste.

That does not sound to be all that tasty actually. Too bad. Maybe the dish will improve in time.
I have not ever added chicken broth to mashed potatoes before. And quite frankly don't care much for the idea of doing so either.
Also if the mashed potatoes are au jus then there is something wrong with that dish. For it should never be juicy, saucy or runny, that is just disgusting.

It's not really that broth was added to the potatoes, but the way the dish is set makes it so the potatoes are hanging out in the au jus. Everything is stacked - potatoes on the bottom, veggies (I only had one green veggie on the plate) in the middle, chicken on top - so the juices seep down into the potatoes. I didn't take a picture but I would have been content just eating the salad. DBF really wanted to eat there otherwise I'd have skipped it.
