Blue Bayou - lunch or dinner?

We were there this past Thursday for lunch. We hadn't thought we'd dine there, so when we asked about 11:15 for a lunch opening at that point they had only two openings at 12:50, so we opted for that. We waited another 10 minutes after that because we wanted a waterside table, which was worth the little extra time to wait.

I was so looking forward to the Monte Cristo based on comments on this board, but for me, it was disappointing: too much fried coating outside and too little meat and cheese inside :confused3 However, my daughter loved the chicken, the potatoes and beans were nicely seasoned, the salad (with spiced walnuts!) and the rolls were excellent , and the service was attentive. We didn't find the portions exactly huge, but they were certainly large enough we didn't have any room for dessert.

To me, lunch and dinner are comparable, but most important is waterside. Every time we've gone, they've told us a wait time for waterside that was always longer than we actually waited. It was not a big deal to wait for waterside. Enjoy! The ambiance is such fun there!
