I have read a number of times best to sit by the water especially when there with kids. I am curious, what is the best way to make sure you get a table by the water? Do I make that request when I call a month ahead an make a reservation? This is one of the places that will only take reservations 30 days a head of time right?

No, Blue Bayou is 60 days, like all other dining PSs. The only thing that is 30 days is the Fantasmic Seatings. You're best bet to make sure you have waterside is to get one of the first seatings at 11 am. Otherwise, you'll have to ask when you check in (be prepared to wait).

Well last August we asked for a WS table when we made the reservations and when we checked we did the same and were told we had to wait. We waited for 55 minutes and were finally seated at a table next to the kitchen. I had a discussion with the lead about the whole incident with no resolve, they were busy. A number of people were being turned away while we waited. The service was OK, the Monte Cristo was sitting in a pool of grease..just not a very "magic" experience.

hey, last spring my DBFF and I just walked in with no wait and were given a table right next to the water! It was soooo gorgeous! We were both absolutely enchanted! They brought me a huge plate full of chicken nuggets when I asked if I could order those from the children's menu. My friend had the Salmon I think which she still talks about when she has something similar at another restaurant. We were overall very impressed. Our server was fantastic, came to check on us almost too much! Drinks were never empty and he was more than willing to take some pictures for us. I will definately be back next time I hit Disneyland!
P.S. - be sure to try the mint julep if you're old enough - Wonderful!

Last November we went to BB for lunch and, despite an early PS and arriving early, we were told that it would be a long wait for a WS table because we were a large group. It looked to me like it would be a long wait even if we were not such a large group. Despite being seated very near the kitchen we had a nice meal, I had a salad, some of us had soup and some of us had seafood. Every single one if us (14) enjoyed their meal. Nobody tried the Monte Cristo but we all had the Mint Julep (even the kids...there is no alcohol in it). About half of us loved the drink and the rest of us thought it tasted like toothpaste . Despite not being by the water we enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and it was nice to be sitting down somewhere peaceful part way through the day to have a nice lunch and relax.

My mom and I had an 11 am PS when we ate lunch there in 11/05. I didn't ask for a water table was happy to get one. Anyone without a PS was turned away when we were there, so make sure to get a PS if you plan to eat there

You should get PS for sure. We always do and I the last couple of times we have been at the waters edge. We were sad that it was closed when we were there a couple weeks ago. It is just not right to be at Disney and not experience Pirates and the BB!!!

We have always asked for a water seat. They have always given us one, the longest wait we had there was like 15 minutes past our actual reservation. The service is outstanding, and the food has never dissapointed us. However be aware of Disneyland Dining, and how how PS works, and what places are good to spend your money at and what places to avoid. We had lunch last July at Ariels Grotta in DCA, we never eat in DCA the food is beyond terrible! BUT, ariels grotto.... I was determined this place would be good. It was absolutly horrible!!!! I have never had a good meal in DCA, not breakfast, lunch or dinner. Just avoid eating there all together and your trip will be great. If your gonna spend money on lunch spend it at the blue bayou.
