Blue Bayou Advice

hello!

I’m a PotC diehard. I love that ride, so much that if I close my eyes I can smell it...my husband says that’s creepy

I would like to go for lunch or dinner to BB when we go to Disneyland in July for a 20th anniversary trip.

Thoughts on lunch vs. dinner? I thought lunch on our magic morning day.

We will be there Monday-Friday. Thoughts on which day, I’m told Tuesday or Thursday are my best days for MM use but I don’t know why.

Lastly, my son is an exceptionally picky eater. He’ll eat anything I make, but has some quirks that mean he won’t eat most restaurant food. Is there a minimum per person when ordering? Are they going to be super annoyed if he only gets a drink?

Thanks for advice, happy to be back looking here after some years away. We did DL in 2010, WDW in 2013, and are SO excited to be going back to DL and California, we loved it so much

There is no minimum unless you are doing an entertainment dining package (fantasmic!).

How old is your son? We used to get an extra plate for our oldest (aka Mr. Picky). Then he could pick things off our plates (like the occasional grape or a roll -- lol). We always brought a wrapped sandwich from home for him. And we ordered him a drink. The servers never had a problem. For dining packages, we would discuss the menu with him well in advance (look on allears.net for the DLR menus), order whatever was the least offensive to him (and sometimes he would actually eat the mac'n'cheese and fruit), and box up the leftovers. This worked for years until Mr. Picky learned to start eating regular food off the DLR menus. (Thank goodness!)

Tues or Thurs are the only days MM is offered during the week.

Our favorite time to eat is first seating lunch, 11:30am. Get there 15-20 mins early to check-in & ask for a waterside table.

From a cost perspective, lunch is a good option. Same experience, you can't tell if it's day or night in there! You will enjoy it.

We booked to have lunch there - rather than dinner - just because it will be neat to eat there in the middle of the day but it appearing to be at night inside.

Thank you for all of the replies! We'll book lunch on the Tuesday for 11:30, and my son can eat after if there's nothing that appeals to him. He's 12, so can't order from the kids menu, correct?

We ate there last year. They tried to sit us practically out the door, we asked for a better table...... the best tables, near the water, are understandably for the package crowd. (we asked, haha, to be sat there).

Great meal. Bucket list, may not do it again.

The weird thing I find about Blue Bayou as I look at the menu is, how does one eat these lovely meals without any sort of wine - we have wine with a lot of our meals so I know not everyone would find that odd. Just seems very odd to me though. I am aware that the only place you can buy alcohol in DL is Club 33 but given it's 2018 . So that is another reason why we booked lunch!

He's 12, so can't order from the kids menu, correct?

My daughter had no issues ordering off the kids menu at Carnation Cafe at age 13/14. They may offer the "adult" option of twice the food twice the price (with the drink no included).

Waterside tables are not restricted....you must ask for one when you check in and be prepared to wait a little longer. That's why 11:30 am is a popular time; it's when they open and if you get there 15-20 minutes early and ask for a waterside table, you have a good shot at it.
