BLT will be $120/Pt. starting Oct. 4th!!!

Recently? I haven't seen many BLT listings lately. TSS had only 1 the last time I looked, and I don't think there were any at the other website I glanced at.

There was one last night for $98 per point, all '09 and '10 points. I haven't checked today, but I would imagine it's been sold.

**edited to add** Yep. It was for 100 points and has a pending sale.

And don't forget it could be ROFR by Disney too, if the price is to far below what they want the resale market to be at for one of their newer results, and if its in small enough volume, I wouldn't put it past them.

It's always possible, but I think some contracts sold in the low $90s. :confused3 I would definitely try this before I spent $120 pp.

We purchased a 100 point add on at VGC during our recent Magic cruise- could have chosen BLT at a slightly higher price but I figured I live in Florida, can book really at any time, and will take my chances on 7 months out since I'm not tied into a specific vacation week and have extreme flexibility. I chose VGC because I love the Grand Californian, it's a much smaller DVC property, and if I'm going there, I need to plan further in advance and want the 11 month booking advantage. I'm also not a fan of the decor at BLT or the fact that very few of the rooms actually overlook MK. $120 pp? Yikes- if I ever decide to purchase points there I'll go for a resale several years from now.---Kathy

Hi,

Just wanted to mention that I stopped by the model DVC unit at the Boardwalk this evening and the rep (Stephanie) told me that the price for all properties would be going up to $120 per point on October 4. That's quite a jump!

Of course, as others have mentioned this could be part of a sales strategy -- it is a good selling point for people on the fence now ("better buy now before the price goes up!"), and then later they can come up with a good incentive plan to bring the price back down ("the normal price is $120 per point, so you'll get a steal at $112!").

I guess we'll see soon enough how this works out!

This is incorrect information. It's only BLT that's going to $120.00, not even AKV, and certainly not the older resorts. I got this from my guide who is a senior sales guide and has been there for years.

IMHO, If they increased the price to $120 on all resorts, the rate of ROFR's would skyrocket, and while Disney usually keeps an inventory of the other resorts, I don't think they want to create a situation where they'll be forcing ROFR's to increase. :confused3

I am suprised anyone would want to buy this resale, we have just bought an add on last month, 125 off disney for $99 and NO CLOSING!!!, this is the important one to remember on resales, on 100 points its going to add maybe $3 per point to the cost.

I agree that that resale would not be as attractive as buying direct from Disney . . . last month. But according to dvcnews.com, on 8/30/09 Disney raised the cost of BLT 100-point add-ons to $107.00/point. Even with $397 in closing costs, a $98/point resale contract could still be cheaper then Disney's current price. Aren't you glad you added on last month?

I agree that for current members adding on, not much better than what was offered.

However, my guess is that it was snatched up so quickly by someone who is not yet a DVC member. Since buying direct through Disney requires at least 160, this contract would allow someone in at BLT for about $102.00 per point (assuming $4.00 per point for closing) and with only 100 points, for a cost of $10,200.

For anyone who wants BLT but couldn't swing the $16,000 + to buy in direct from Disney it was a great deal, IMO.

Now you tell me that, yes!!!!!!!!!!. That would have cost me $1000 dollars more this month than last or £625 of the stuff that I earn. Thats one hefty inflation busting increase.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time a CM gave out bad info. That's why I included her name, I don't want to be responsible for spreading baseless gossip -- that is really what she told me!

Seems crazy to raise any property to $120/point. I went over to BLT and was incredibly disappointed, I don't think I would ever want to stay there let alone own there. Just doesn't seem to merit being so singled out price-wise compared to other properties. I guess we'll see if this strategy pays off for Disney...

From a economics perspective, consumers typically react more positively and buy more when there is a "sale" or "discount" rather then when something is sold at full price, even if full price is grossly overstated.

It's the Kohl's method of selling!! Set a ridiculous retail price and then offer a "huge" discount (30%-50%) The unknowledgable consumer thinks they got a great deal.

In any case, I'm glad I bought after the webcast at $92 per point.

Got an email from my DVC rep showing the price increasing for new members to BLT October 09 to $120.00/point. They said to "hurry up" and get in before the price increase. disney obviously thinks they have a "hot" product (BLT) in order to raise the price to that level in this economy. if you can buy now do so. if not wait. i think by next spring when they do not get as much sales as they thought they would, there will be incentives again on BLT. it's like stocks-never buy high ! You will get burned.

This definitely may encourage new prospective owners to buy either AKV or SSR which Disney is still trying to sell out. so that may be their goal too.
