BLT - what am I missing?

What I LOVE;
  1. LOCATION
  2. 1 BRs really sleep 5 and have 2 bathrooms
  3. Kinda addicted to that smell when you walk in.
  4. Love the bridge over to the Contemporary where you can leisurely start your day on the monorail
  5. LOCATION!!
What I don't love;
  1. Points chart is a little higher than all but RIV and VGF
  2. Contempo/BLT Bus stop is unordered and a bit of a pain with reduced bus capacities
  3. Running route is not very stimulating (figure 8 around BLT and the Contempo Garden Wing)

lol, this one struck a nerve...my 4 mile route last week. I resorted to back and forth in the BLT parking lot at one point, brutal!

What I love:
-Unique look/smell compared to other resorts.
-On the water
-Close to MK.
-Good restaraunts and atmosphere
-Top of the world lounge.
-Close to other resorts and multiple options to get to those resorts.

What I dont like:
-Not a big Disney feel/imprint.

I resorted to 3 laps around the "official" route. After day 1 I was - meh - not sure I'm doing that every day (and I admit, I didn't). If only they would just provide a path next to the road so you could get to the WL. There are tons of great places to run over there. I did see the parking lot ferry come over the water bridge @ sunrise one morning - that was cool to see.

I love a few things:
1. Proximity to MK
2. Extra full bathroom in 1 and two bedrooms
3. Theme park view and lake view options
4. Ability to use either BLT or CR pool
5. Variety of dining and shops just by walking over the bridge
6. Top of the World Lounge
7. The smell
8. The smaller footprint as opposed to being a large, sprawling resort (although I also love OKW for its laid back feel)

It doesn't get any more DISNEY than looking out your window and seeing the castle, or seeing/hearing fireworks every single night (under normal circumstances). Or watching the monorail glide through the concourse...or the Mary Blair mural. The CR is quintessential Disney. It's the OG Disney resort. Location can't be beat. Fantastic restaurants and amenities. Fabulous staff.

Best resort on property, IMO.

I have small children and Contempo is the best while they use strollers. We did MVMCP in 2018 and let our kids fall asleep in the stroller as it got closer to midnight. Then we took a calm, peaceful walk back to the Contempo garden wing where we had a ground floor room. Popped the kids from the strollers into bed without ever waking them... it was priceless. I adore walking back to Contempo and in some twisted way, it’s even more enjoyable when I see the massive, exhausted crowds trying to get on the monorail and boat as we walk down the mostly empty path.

And the other reason we stay there is because I feel CR is the best compromise between me, the rope-dropper, and my DH, who would sleep in till noon if we let him. By staying at the CR, I know it will never be more than 15 mins from door to MK gates. So DH can maximize his sleeping time and I can still rope drop!

Now that GF has the walkway I’m excited to stay there and check it out on our next visit. For now, proximity beats absolutely everything else. Once my kids are older, we’ll move “our” resort to Beach/Yacht.

We don't care much for it but end up staying there often due to location and my almost 4 year old considers several CMs at the community hall to be her friends, so for us the pros are: location, CMs/CH the 1 bed rooms and contempo (our fav monorail quick service)

It is one of my favorite resorts! We stayed there on opening day with a view of MK. The kids didn't like to be close to fireworks. So, we watched from the room. It was the most relaxing private viewing spot. The kids watched with their pjs on. Right after that trip, we purchased our BLT points.

We love the location. Walking back from the fireworks at MK is great. We can see the show, skip the mad rush to WDW transportation and get back to the resort early enough.
When HDDR was running (a must do for us), the dock for the ferry was right out back.
The rooms are bigger, although we don't spend much time in our rooms.
The monorail station inside is just plain cool.
There is some nostalgia as it was there with the opening of MK.

It was always on our list for pricing when we booked through our travel agent. But, it was 8 or 9 trips before we actually booked a room there. The whole time, I was second guessing the choice, but we decided to keep it. It turned out to be our favorite hotel. Theming is fun and all, but there is something distinctly Disney about The Contemporary.

I'm with you on not getting it. Have stayed there twice, once as a kid and once for a brief stay as an adult. Other than location, it does nothing for me. Feels like a high end hotel anywhere in the world outside of having a monorail run through the middle of it, lol. Rooms are standard Hampton\Hilton fair to me and frankly, for the money, I'd much rather stay at the Poly or eve the Wilderness Lodge.

You may not be missing anything. Maybe it’s just not your taste. We happen to love The CR and when buying DVC, BLT was the only place I was interested in at the time. We’ve since added on at PVB and will eventually add at BCV but that’s it.

People gush and rave about WL and my DH and I stayed here in October and despite all my effort to love it, it wasn’t for us. To each his own. I’m not going to sit here and question why other people love it...they just do.
