ok, The wife and I were wondering what 1BR Villa at BLT has a better over all view. The DVC guy says that MK views also have to look at the parking lot. i want to stay at least the 10th floor. What view is better and why? Can you include if possible photo's from the balcony or even video. I will also include a poll to get ideas.

You can go a lot of places and get a room overlooking a lake, but there aren't too many places you can sit on your balcony in your jammies and look at a twinkling castle with a spectacular fireworks show going on around it.

Of course, I say that as a BLT owner who's only stayed in a standard view room - I just happened to get (at my request) perhaps the best standard view 2br in the building - one with a full Magic Kingdom view, but on the 2nd floor. It was terrific, and no extra points for the view. :thumbsup2

After my first of 2 stays booked, first a Standard view, I volunteered to give up my MK view the next month at check in. I told them to keep the points I didn't want it just give me stnd or lake.

I spent 2 evenings in the TOWL and it was not hi enough to distract me from the lot below and that's when I knew I would not book MK view again.

I own blt so not bashing just sharing my true reaction. A hi floor is not gty so

be prepared to be even closer to the lot. IMO if you don't have a MK view from the inside of the villa or laying in the bed then the lot is just too much of a deterrent for the higher points.

Maybe DVD will revaluate the views in the future

Much of the information you are looking for can be found in work2play's excellent thread on BLT rooms and views (see http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2257082). There are many photos showing views from a lot of the rooms at BLT.

You mentioned in your original post that you want to stay at least on the 10th floor. Well, the only way you can guarantee that you wouldn't get below the 10th floor is if you book a BLT grand villa; all GVs are on the 15th floor. MK view rooms can be as low as the 3rd floor, and LV rooms can be as low as the second floor.

During our recent stay at BLT, we were in room #8028, an MK view studio on the 10th floor. When we stood on our balcony, we had great views of the Castle, Space Mountain, Seven Seas Lagoon, the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary, and the monorails. We could even see Mount Everest at Animal Kingdom, and the Tower of Terror and the Sorcerer's Hat at Hollywood Studios. We could also see BLT's parking lot, but it did not distract from our enjoyment of having views that we cannot have from any other hotel in the U.S.

I don't think one view is better than the other. Like Tara says, there are some great standard views at BLT, too.

I'll take my chances and book a Lake View every time. If I get lucky and get a glimpse of the MK, so be it, but I can't see "spending" all those points for a glorified parking lot view.

We bought at BLT only for the MK view. Sunsets over the Castle, Wishes out the window ... nothing better.

You and everyone else - LOL. :rotfl:

If you want a view of the castle, your best bet is to book a MK view room. With that said, there are also some disappointing MK view rooms, so even if you spend the extra points for a MK view room, you may not get the view that you want. There are standard and lake view rooms that have awesome views of MK too...but, by this time everyone know which rooms those are and how to word their room requests to get those rooms. There really is no easy answer to your question but if you want the best chance at a castle view, book the MK view and hope your room request comes through. Good luck! :goodvibes

Mac TLC,
Is that a picture from BLT MK view? I've seen others that didn't look that good. We own there and haven't stayed there yet. We booked a bay lake view at the end of the month. I am curious as to where you were when that picture was taken? How many floors up?

I would definitely say LV. I have not stayed on a high floor, so this maybe biased, but I was unimpressed with our third floor MK view room. :( Now Disney did make ammends for my disappointment, but still I had higher hopes for the MK view.

As an aside, when we checked in the only MK view room available was the third floor. The CM that checked us in said "Don't worry about being low, the only thing you're missing is the view of rooftop." Yah, isn't that kind of the point of an MK view? :confused3

The pictures were taken from our window in a 1 Bdr MK view, #8120, 11th floor.

We havea 1 bedroom BLT booked. Originally I booked MK view, but the more I thought about it, I would be really unhappy spending all those extra points and not being thrilled with the view. Instead, I changed it to LV. That way, I'll put in my request, maybe get lucky, but if not, at least I won't be as irritated as if I had spent all the extra points and not gotten a good MK view.

Thank you evryone for your opinions. I have time to choose. May 11 is the 7 month date. I guees that's what it's called. We are doing a split reservation. A few wonderful first days at AKV concierge:goodvibes:confused3 Is it worth it? any perks? We should be getting our DVC member # tonite or in the AM from our wonderful DVC cast member Doug:hippie: I would love to find out how to get his job!! It's almost a dream job:worship:

Here are a few pics from room 7720. We like the MK view side; fireworks, monorail, seven seas lagoon.

We had a lake view and I really can't see spending the points for an MK view. We loved watching the boats and the electrical water pageant from our room. We saw Wishes from TOTW.

The positives are coming from those that had the A+ MK views. I, like ssawka had a lower MK view which was very disappointing as an MK view. It was a 4th floor studio. If it were standard or lakeview (which I just consider to be everything else) then fine. And that's the problem with MK view - they are not all created equal. In fact, I've seen equal or better views of the MK from lakeview rooms compared to my MK room. It was a great view of the CR though!
