BLT views? I need a tutorial!

Ok....so there are "standard", "bay lake", and "MK" views. Now, looking at the building and the odd shape, I don't understand what a standard view would be? It seems that all rooms either face the MK, or bay lake? And what about the side rooms that kinda face MK? What are those considered?

Just curious....we just booked a 2-bedroom bay lake view yesterday. Does that mean I will be on the inside of the "U"....or possibly the outside, just not facing MK?

Hi - my understanding is that Standard view rooms only make up around 20% of the room views at BLT, if that. I'm guessing that a Standard view room would be one of the ones on the outside of the "C" directly facing the Contemporary building, or ones on the inside of the "C" not facing out toward the lake.

The way Disney does room views, usually if you can see ANY water, or ANY part of the park, they're going to mark that room as either Lake View or MK View. So, even if all you can see from your balcony is the top of Space Mountain by craning your neck, they may still call that MK View! I'm not sure that DVC will release anything in advance of opening confirming any of this, though, so we'll probably just have to wait and see what others say after they'd stayed....

I'll be there in November in a Bay Lake View Studio...can't wait!

Yes, can't wait to hear about people's experiences! We are staying Aug. 31-Sept. 3 at BLT, and then moving over to SSR until Sept. 13th (developer points that need to be used!).

Nobody knows. Here's a best guess

MK-view: Middle of the outside of the C. Mid to high floors.

Standard-view: This is the toughest to speculate on. Keep in mind there are only a few. Probably low floors on the outside of the C, especially those facing the CR. Might be a few on the inside of the C.

Lake View: Everything else, including rooms on both the inside and outside of the C. I suspect the best views will be on the Northern end of the outside of the C. Great water and tree views, with a hint of the MK if you twist your head to the left.

Oh, I'm jealous that you'll be there in August! I'm going to be all over these boards waiting for the first trip reports and photos. We're going to the World in May (staying at SSR), so I'm hoping to be able sneak around the BLT building a bit then to see what I have to look forward to.

We are going in May as well! When in May are you going and where are you staying? We are going May 23-31st and staying at Boardwalk Villas. Our May trip will just be adults (me and DH and my brother and his girlfriend). I can't wait!!

We're going May 8-16, so unfortunately we'll miss you! Staying at SSR with our Developer Points. I'm excited and apprehensive at the same time. I think it'll be great to be right near Downtown Disney and away from the crowds, but I've never stayed that far away from the parks before! We usually stay at the Epcot-area or monorail resorts, so I'm sort of spoiled by that!

We're also just adults -- me, DH, my sister-in-law and her husband. They're Disney freaks like us, so it's always fun to go together!

We are booked for part of our trip at BLT and waitlisted for one night. I am hoping we'll get it so we can stay there the length of our trip. For those of you going, please take lots of pictures and notes and post back here on the DIS for those of us going after you! It will definitely be a big help!

Suzi2 posted this from the CR 4th floor room 4402. Obviously zoomed in and if you look down it would be a parking lot. But if this is the std view and you can see Wishes and the castle (I assume SM as well)-it may be a good use of points IMO.

But, I tend to think that even if you can see a little bit of the castle, they will label it a MK view.

If it that is the case, the whole west side is MK view-all the way to the ground floor I would guess, if this is the 4th floor. And if thats the case, the premium points used on the bottom (or even this view) are too high IMO. I predict they will draw a line (maybe the 6th 7th ot 8th floor) and just make sure those 20% are happy wit the view, then floors directly below will be happy as well-pleasantly surprised anyway. We will see soon.
