Hello,

So excited! Just used the online booking to get BLT 1-bedroom at my seven month window!! We love SSR, but have been starting to branch out to other DVC resorts.

We just came back from AKL Jambo House.. loved the view of the animals from our room but my husband did not like the food at the restaurants.
Any tips for BLT?

Thanks
Susan

High floor is a common request, don't forget to bring your member card and visit the TOTWL.

:earsboy: Bill

There are no restaurants at BLT. They are all located at the Contemporary. The Wave is a good alternative for breakfast if you don't want Chef Mickeys or Contempo Cafe.

We love BLT!!! What view did you get? Our favourite, hands down, is to look out over the Contemporary marina. So definitely place a request for the outside curve of the building (sorry, I can't recall if that means even or odd numbers).

Definitely go to TOTW, and order flatbreads. Enjoy the fireworks from a very special point of view.

Yes, all the food is at the Contemporary. But compared with the walks we've endured at Kidani, AKL Jambo, and BCV, it's very close.

Remember your DVC card when you go to the TOTW Lounge, as well as to the pool.

Walk to MK at least once.

And I second a PP's suggestion of dining at The Wave. While I'm one of those who still loves California Grill, I'm getting quite partial to The Wave.

Oh, and if you're quiet and patient, you might see the resident armadillo in the shrubbery!

We love BLT (our home resort). :cool1:

If you have a Lake View, watch the Electric Water Pageant from your balcony.

Ride the monorail to Epcot. (OK, TTC and then Epcot, but still cool)

Enjoy Wishes at TOTWL. Kids can even come in their PJ's (whch just fascinated my then 6 year old DC).

Take the boat to FW or VWL.

-TOWL is a lot of fun
-Taking the monorail to EPCOT and from MK is awesome!
-Book an ADR at another monorail resort - it was fun to hop on the monorail for a 5 minute ride to our ADR at Ohana
-take advantage of pool hopping and check out the Volcano Pool at the Poly
-take the boat to Fort Wilderness for the Chip N Dale campfire sing along
-avoid taking the monorail to MK from BLT - usually a 20 minute ride; only a 10 minute walk
-food quality at the Contempo Cafe is better than average for quick service. $9.99 for a very tasty grilled Mahi-Mahi sandwich:goodvibes
-If you want cheap groceries take a cab or use your rental car to visit the HESS express at the car care center (5 minutes away by cab). Case of water 4.99, $2 2-liters, $3 bags of chips, etc.

Stayed at the BLT a year ago and did everything possible to request a certain room # to satisfy my DD, but in the end we got the higher floor, but not the partial MK view that my DD wanted. We had a great lake view room looking out over the CR pool and all the way to Epcot, which means we actually got to see Illuminations fireworks, even if it was a bit far away. We could see all the way around to the GF, the CR and if the weather was clear we could even see the Tower of Terror.
I found the studio room to be smaller than BWV studios but you can't beat the location and I personally loved the view...even if we couldn't see Wishes.

Take the boat to VWL and FT. Wilderness! Trails End restaurant is good and they do take out pizza too. If you are looking for a down day you can rent bikes at the Ft. or rent the boats and cruise around bay lake. Love BLT - getting GV for 6 nights over NYE

Can you pool hop to non-DVC resorts? I thought you could only to DVC resorts, with some restrictions too.

most of what you can pool hop too is non-DVC resorts.

both the Polyn and GF are on the list.

you can't go to AKL/V, BC/BCV/YC and BLT. Since the CR is not mentioned guessing even if you aren't staying at BLT you might be able to pool hop to it.

for food - you can also ride the monorail to Polyn - love Kona Cafe there. or the GF - you can even walk to the MK to eat if you want too

my tips.... so much I love , but, id have to say 1/ whats your view? We had LV with pool and lake view. sit and watch EWP with a cocktail and in the AM have a cup of coffee or tea. I loved and used the balcony everyday to start my day and in the PM to end my night. 2/ TOTWL ...itll leave you breathless...took amazing family shots up there.3/ rent a water mouse. You will have a ball! Bring a camera....Once in a lifetime pics there too!! 4/ The Wave for dinner. Very underrated. Excellent service and food. 5/ Take a book on the beach on a lounger. Great quiet time. You will love it! Wish we bought our second contract there:headache: stupid, stupid me!

Your post came at a perfect time for us! We just became DVC members today and booked BLT. My only regret is that we don't have the budget for a bigger contract. Thanks to everyone for all the great advice about BLT!

Thank you all so much...

I have had such a stressfull day! Coming home to all of your tips is just what I needed...
We have a LV.. love the thought of the monorail!!

Perfect . Ask for odd number room so you can see pool and lake. Beautiful view !

Perfect . Ask for even number room so you can see pool and lake. Beautiful view !

Which pool?

From the BLT Room and View Thread:

Odd number rooms are the inner villas (the ones you see when facing BLT from the Pool)
Even number rooms are the outer villas (the ones you see from the monorail)

For the Lake View category:
If you have an Even number room facing south you would see the Contemporary, CR pool, and Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon.

If you have an Even number room facing North you would see Bay Lake and woods to the right and front, and Magic Kingdom when you face to the left.

Odd number rooms are the inner ring and face the BLT Pool and Bay Lake.

Oops! I meant odd!!!

We love BLT! TOTWL is great. It is so nice to be able to go up the and relax after a fun day in the park. Like other posters mentioned, definitely utilize the monorail and visit the other QS restaurants. We always go for tonga toast at the poly and I really like Gasparillas. The walk to MK is great too! It's definitely quicker than waiting for the monorail after wishes or a parade. Oh I could go on and on. I prefer to be on the outside of the bean in an even numbered room. But that is just personal preference.

These tips are great!
We bought at BLT last summer and this summer we're about to stay there for the first time :cool1:
but slightly worried that we'll want to spend even more and increase our points!!

Walk to the Contemporary pool (just down the path from the BLT pool) for better poolside food option. You can use the pool there too for some variety. (BTW, I like to pool hop to the Poly and have lunch there too.)

It's faster to walk to MK in the morning than taking the monorail (last stop.) Monorail is quick on the way back though (first stop.)

Take the boat for a nice dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Ask other DISers about good requests to make for your room location.
