I know all about walking reservations and what not, but I'd like to know how many actually exist. I have been trying to book the week of december 4th through 11th. Our dates are flexible but must include a Friday through Sunday night. Doesn't have to be the full 7 days. I've been unable to get the standard view studio for the 3rd, the 4th, and now today the 5th. All days afterward are showing available, but cannot be booked yet. I don't understand how at midnight before I fell asleep the 5th was shown as available, but the first second I was able to get online at 8 am it was immediately shown as booked. I was ready to go 10 minutes ahead of time. The second it went through it was shown as full. This has happened three days in a row. I can try again tomorrow, but I'm certain the second it opens it will immediately show booked again. I could try for the following weekend and "walk" the reservation, but I would need today's date to be available for that, and it's not. I know there are few standard views but is it really that in demand that the first minute they are gone?

Not sure of total number but all studios are part of 2BR lock-offs. Standard rooms are mostly just first and second floor, and floors 3 and 4 in front of building above entrance, and standards total only about 11% of all rooms. Moreover, they are the rooms that are always in highest demand at BLT. Moreover, you are unfortunately trying to book during the highest demand time of the year and what is happening is that those who could book earlier already have the room for the 5th and likely only one or two rooms are left for any particular day as you go forward and whether you get it at 8 a.m simply depends on how fast your signal gets to Disney's computer in relation to probably numerous others looking for standard view who are also hitting that send button about the same time you are.

My theory is that phenomenon you describe is due to the way the system displays inventory. I believe that because members can book 7 nights from check in, those days really are not available, but their actual /true status isn't shown online until the window opens for the particular day in question.

Because that first week is so popular, I believe all of the standard view villas were booked for that week on either 11/30 or 12/1. It won't surprise me to learn that you encounter this for the rest of this week. Sorry. Hope you can live with lake view, that a waitlist works or that you can change your dates to next week.

That's what I'm afraid of. Maybe I'll have to do the 3 browser trick like someone else posted elsewhere. That weekend is set in stone for us. Unfortunately I forgot about trying to walk it a week ago.

Thank you. This was my suspicion. I guess I could call MS to confirm this IF they are even willing to tell you availability ahead of Dec 5th. I know they told me to use the online system to check availability a week ahead of the 7 month mark (to walk a reservation) but I had heard they won't tell you ahead of your 11 month mark. I suspect that the rooms are booked as well already but just not showing that online. The MKV was shown as unavailable for 12/5 as well, but available the days after. It's not a huge deal. It's 3 points a night difference, and we may end up only staying 3 days....most likely 5. Those points could mean an extra day for our summer trip 2014. Oh well. I got a LV, but was really hoping for SV. I guess that is what waitlist is for :)

Last year, I had trouble booking SV studio as well for around that same time frame. I booked LV and then wait listed the SV view. A few days after the 7 month window, that waitlist came through so I would be sure to do that. I figured I had to be near the top of the waitlist given how close to the 11 month window I had booked.

I think a lot of BLT owners books SV because of the points savings and that some of those owners do intend to switch resorts at 7 months so the chances of the wait list gets better.

Good luck!

I got the SV studio this morning for Fri Dec 6th. I guess I can stop whining now:rotfl:
Good - I am glad you were able to get something.

Feel free to whine, LOL. I see posts like yours as very educational - as long as no one starts name calling, posting sarcastic responses, etc. :teeth:

I had booked a LV but was just hoping to book SV to save some points for summer 2014. That trip we may have to try OKW to maximize our points for the longest trip we can. We are only going for a weekend to do the MVMCP again. We did it this year and our kids (7 & 3) had an absolute blast. We figure we have one more year with our daughter with Santa clause, so we are going to maximize what we can while they are young. You only live once right?
