Would like some first hand accounts of people staying at BLT studios. Why did Disney design these to be only 300 sq ft? Most mods are 314 Sq Ft and CBR I believe is 340sf. No question that they are appointed more nicely, but geeez sleeping 4 would seem to be kind of rough esp. when the actual living space (bed, couch area) looks to be smaller than even a room at Pop Century.

Are the pictures deceiving? My wife and I are looking into bringing our 2 & 1 yo and love the location .. but the size of the room seems like a deal breaker.

Thanks!

The living space as defined as th bed and couch area is probably smaller than the living space in Pop Century. On the other hand their is a large bathroom and kitchenette area that the moderates and values don't have. For 2 of us the studio is a great size. With children at the ages yours are I don't think I would feel to crowded- there is a ton of storage space in a studio- more than any other room I have been in - I think their were 8 drawers, 2 hidden shelf areas, and a few empty cabinets- we were only there for 2 nights so we coiuldn't come close to using them all.

If my children were older I would probably go for a 1 bedroom unless I had only 1.

I think part of the idea was to encourage people to use the 1 bedrooms- which I believe are some of the larger ones in the various Villas.

For 2 of us we had plenty of space- bnut we did not pull out the couch or have to put up the playpen. Because of this we actually felt like we had more space then when we stayed in an OKW studio with the 2 double beds.

we looked at a studio on our last visit. One bad part about the set-up. The bathroom doesn't have a sink in its room. The batheroom sink is back to back with the kitchenette area. Think galley, batheroom sink one side, kitchenette the other.

So, lets say someone is blow drying there hair or shaving. They are butt to butt with the other person who might be making breakfast. Gross!!

I think there are a lot of us who agree that the BLT studio is an archtectural mistake. Some may like it, though. But I thought it was poorly designed.

it is more than 300 sq ft - think it is 327 sq ft.

now as a single love them. as a couple probably would - but more than that - yea you need the 1-bedroom

which I think it the ideal.

I stayed in a SV studio with 2-13 yo boys. I thought the sink setup was "weird", but it' didn't bother me. I find staying in the smaller units, I need to be more organized. Make sure the clothes are put away, the luggage in the closet, shoes in the closet, the sofa bed get's folded up every day. We did fine, but were only there a short time.

Never fancied this when walked through model rooms. Same thoughts.

We stayed in a studio for two nights and then went to a one bedroom for four nights. It was like living in a closet to living in a palace!! I was tight in the studio. If you are opening a playpen it will be even tighter.

If you can afford the points for a one bedroom go for it. You will not be disappointed. I wanted to stay and live in the one bedroom.

We recently stayed at BLT in a studio. We loved it. It was only two of us, and I never found the kitchen / sink area gross with two people in there. We are VWL owners and lovers, it is our style. But we found we really liked BLS and the modern fresh look.

It is so great that we can try many different vacations with our points.

I agree the back to back kitchenette/bathroom counter design is a bad one. Nobody wants hair in their food.
That said, however, I think the designers did what they could with the odd shaped space they had and th DVC design requirements.

As for the title of this thread, even if the BLT studio is comparable in size to a room at a moderate, they're two entirely different experiences:

A moderate has no balcony. BLT studios do;
Moderate has no kitchenette space, BLT (as oddly placed as it is) does;
The door into a moderate opens up right onto the first bed, In the studios, there's a hallway (I truly appreciated this this last trip after a 1 night stay non-dvc!)

and the list goes on...

With 2 little ones you'll probably be fine in a studio, however I always found it nice to be able to close nappers off in their own room with door so I don't have to tip-toe around them -- were it me, I think a 1 br unit would be in order.

We love BLT, but did not care for the studio. IMHO, it is small and the "sink setup" was a turn-off. With 2 adults and 2 teens, it was not the best choice, but we were only there 2 nights. It would be fine for 2 adults and a small child. We will definitely opt for a larger unit next time. But BLT is terrific. The location is primo and the resort is beautifully decorated with fabulous views.
