BLT Studio size vs CR Tower room

What is the size of the Contemporary Tower rooms compared to BLT Studios? I've stayed BLT Studio and found it quite small... are the Tower rooms any bigger? It will be 2 adults and 2 children (1 & 3 yrs). Thanks!

The real issue is more "use of space." A CR tower room is 394 square feet, had two queens and a daybed. The bathroom is on one side of the entry; the closets on the other. There is room for a TV console and a desk area with chair.

A BLT studio is 339 square feet, give or take a couple depending where in the curve the room is. It has a queen bed and a double sofa bed. A LOT of space is taken up by the kitchenette.

The tower room is noticeably larger.

Thank you! I stayed BLT Studio several years ago and only remember it being small! It was 3 adults and a 1 year old... so I was thinking there were just too many adults in the room! In your opinion, would the layout of a tower room be better since we will have a double stroller to store in our room? I know I can look this up, but do Tower rooms have microwaves and fridge or just fridge?

Just fridge.

My personal opinion is that a BLT studio is fine if you have no need to fold.out the couch. With a double, I doubt that is the case. You would be better in the Tower or garden wing.

Very, very poor design on the studios at BLT, if you need the sofa bed. When it's pulled out, the room feels as small, if not smaller, than a value room. Lots of wasted space. The bathroom/kitchenette/closet literally take up half of the entire room.

I agree! With the sofa bed out, you literally trip on the furniture trying to walk around it! We will need a second bed, so this is probably not the best option for us, although we love BLT! We have a 1 bedroom booked right now, but I'm rethinking the cost just for the 4 of us ( 2 adults , 2 small children). Thank you :)

Thank you! I agree with the fold out couch problem... why don't DVC Studio villas have 2 dedicated beds instead of the fold out?! Or am I missing a resort that has this?

OKW has 2 queens in the studios. My guess is studios were designed for couples or small families. Larger families move up to 1 or 2 bedrooms, where the parents would have a private bedroom.

It is one of the trade-offs of DVC. DVC is a timeshare, and not a hotel.

After OKW, they made the rooms smaller to make more money for Disney. You can't fit two queen sized beds in the other studios.

As a DVC owner I far prefer one bed and a pull out. I can go to any hotel anywhere for 2 Queen beds if that is what I like. Also OKW studios Villas have 2 Queen beds. They are the only DVC Studio Villas that do.

But hotel rooms on Disney property do not have kitchens/kitchenettes. That is why we like DVC. I just think that at least some of the DVC studios should have dedicated beds instead of pull out sofa... I don't find the pull out sofa comfortable. And I'm sure at least half of people that stay DVC studios need to use the pull out sofa for children, 3rd adult, etc.... but I agree with Deb & Bill... they are not big enough for 2 queens... it's just disappointing.

I appreciate your thoughts.
It is interesting to me that now that so many folks know about renting DVC points for stays in DVC accommodations, different opinions arise.
I am not looking to stay in a Disney hotel room with a kitchenette. I am very happy with what I purchased.
I reached DVC extensively prior to making the decision to purchase a timeshare ownership interest. It was a big financial, and other, commitment on our part. What DVC offers us meets our needs as owners.
Different opinions from different perspectives.

I'm glad you are happy with your DVC purchase! It's definitely not something you go into without a ton of research. My husband and I have been interested in buying for many years now. We have friends and family that own DVC. We have been able to try out many of the DVC resorts and are weighing out our options. Like you, we were very happy with a Studio when it was just the two of us, but now we have 2 children. We "can" fit into a studio, but like I said before, the fold out couch is uncomfortable. We are now forced to get a 1 bedroom villa which is actually bigger than we need. We would be quite happy in a studio IF it had a dedicated 2nd bed, as we spend most of our time in the parks and not in our villa. Thank you for your thoughts and I hope you continue to enjoy your DVC ownership!
