BLT Studio or CR Regular Room?

Never stayed at the Contemporary or Bay Lake Tower, but trying to decide on one or the other for our next trip. I was looking at a BLT Studio Villa, but was wondering is there any real advantage to that vs. a regular room at the CR?

What size is your traveling party?

I've stayed at both. If you are comparing studios to the CR standard rooms, the CR rooms are larger. But they don't have the kitchenette and if you book in the wing instead of the tower, you won't have a balcony.

If your party is one or two adults, willing to share the bed, then a studio is nice. You have the kitchenette and the sofa to sit on during the day.

But if your party is larger, having the regular beds at CR for sleeping instead of the sofabed is nice.

The resorts share most amenities, so that really isn't much to sway your decision one way or the other.

How many people? The BLT studios have a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa. Contemporary has 2 queens and a daybed.

The BLT studio has a kitchenette which includes a small fridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker. The Contemporary has a small fridge, coffeemaker.

The BLT studio is the smallest studio of all the DVC resorts. It really isn't good for more than two people who are willing to share the queen sized bed. Larger groups of four have stayed there, but I wouldn't be willing to do that. I'd get a one bedroom villa instead of a studio.

We are staying at BLT in a one bedroom in the fall and are looking forward to that. We have stayed in the CR Wing room a few years ago and it was very nice - spacious, two queen beds and a day bed. We were close to the pool and were able to take the stairs instead of having to wait for an elevator like you might have to do in the main building. We enjoyed our CR Wing room very much, even without a balcony because we still had a large glass door that could be opened to get fresh air off the lake.

I would always pick a regular room over a DVC studio. I would rather have the space and the two beds. I don't really see the appeal of the studio. LOVE the 1- and 2-bedrooms for the extra rooms (privacy) and the kitchen plus washer/dryer. Regular room gets my vote.

Two adults and one twelve year old. We have stayed before at the VWL in a studio before and were comfortable. I used the fold-out couch and they took the bed. Do the studios at BLT compare to the ones at Wilderness Lodge?

VWL studios are larger than BLT. And a lot of the space in the BLT studio is in the bathroom and the hallway leading to the living area.
