We are considering staying for 3 nights on points in a 2 bedroom in Nov. 2012. We are trying to decide if using the extra points for a theme park or lake view is worth it. So, if anyone has any input, especially pictures of the view I'd appreciate it.

BLT has no bad views. None. Not one. The standard views are all the low floors. You can be anywhere from floor 1-5.

Standard view will provide a low-floor view of either the pool, the lakes or the Magic Kingdom. The grounds all around BLT are so nicely landscaped that these views are really nice. I had a standard view 1 bedroom whose view was under a large tree and beyond the tree was bay lake.

Lake view will provide a spectacular view of the nearby lakes. However, some of the views on the inside of the curve of the building won't have straight-ahead views of the lakes. Still spectacular views, you just have to turn a little to see it. The majority of the rooms are on the outside of the curve.

Theme Park view is basically the center portion of the outside curve and provides views of the Magic Kingdom. It's a lot closer than it looks in the pictures you will see of the views. Excellent view...especially if you like to watch the castle change colors or want to see wishes from a private location. The downside to the theme park views is that some of them are low floors... you can be as low as the 3rd or 4th floor. Some people have expressed disappointment with spending such a premium on their points to receive just a mediocre MK view.

just remember... no bad views... none at all. you won't be disappointed with a standard view. You will be blown away by the lake view. MK view can be worth it or not depending on if you get a higher floor... just ask at check-in and if a higher floor is available, you'll get it.

Here's a link to a thread with pictures from many of the rooms at BLT so you can decide for yourself. The links are in post #1.

There are many rooms that the view includes the parking lot and/or service areas of BLT. It'll depend on if that is something that will distract you from any other part of the view to decide if the extra points are worth it or not.

I don't know about NO bad views. We were in a standard view last month and even though I tried really hard to convince myself we had a monorail view, it was pretty much a parking lot view that was somewhat enhanced by the monorail:

We've stayed in a lake view twice before and that is definitely my preference. I really missed being able to sit out on my balcony with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and just relaxing. I couldn't do that with a parking lot view. Now I know not all standard views will overlook the parking lot, but I'm not willing to take that chance again.

Funny, when we went (Jan 2010) our MK View was pretty much the same view as your picture. Oh, except with the beam from the awning blocking the view of the MK.

We had a second floor standard view (2 bedroom villa) facing the courtyard and fountains. It was a nice view!

We had the same "MK view" room as well this June for our 10th Anniversary trip - wasn't too thrilled about it.

We had a 2nd floor room - if you're facing the front of the building from the parking lot, it's just to the right of the big concrete awning; inside it's right next to the mezzanine over the lobby. I think it was 7226. Are you both saying you had relatively the same view but at a MK view point premium???? That's why I can't fathom paying for MK view. It's just a glorified parking lot view unless you're on one of the highest floors. I'll gladly spring for Bay Lake view anytime; going forward this is likely to be all I'll ever book.

Just to help you feel better about your standard view - this is the MK view just above what ssawka and cbnsoul had - 7428.

Soooooo much better than your standard view. :rolleyes1

Yep, that's it exactly! I vowed that I will never book a MK view again, since you cannot guarantee where it will be at. I'd rather have a standard view and save the points.

Us as well. We have yet to try MK view and won't because we know that you can be as low as the 3rd floor. We travel in Magic Season and it would KILL me to know that the people just under me in their 2 bedroom were paying 15 points less per night for pretty much the same view as us.

That's what I was thinking after getting this room - except I had already booked a 2BR MK view! :headache: I was less than pleased with the thought I'd be paying all of those points and be looking up at a monorail and down at a parking lot again and somebody just a floor or two lower would be paying 90 points less for the same view. I debated many times over changing and was wringing my hands until I knew what room we had been assigned. Thankfully the bad room assignment fairy didn't hit us 2 times in a row but I don't know if I'll press my luck again.

This was the view from my standard view studio in January. We had a great view of the fireworks. Last year we also had a standard view studio that we could see the castle and fireworks from, kids were so excited and so were we. We have a standard view dedicated 2bd booked for next may. Not sure we'll be so lucky this time but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We have done a lake view and STD. Our lake view was lovely - looked out at the cr pool area and bay lake. Our STD view room was very nice, but I missed having a good view. Our standard room was on the inside of the c and all you could see was bamboo, a bocci court and the rooms on the other half of the c. No pool at all. It was actually fine for us - it was very shady and quiet and we had our 15 month old with us, but I never even stepped onto the patio since there was nothing to look at. We spent lots of time on the balcony with our lake view watching the elec water parade every night and the birds and boats every morning.

Thank you all for your honesty. And for all the pictures as well!
Boy, I am so confused. It almost seems that booking the lake view is the way to go. But, to be honest I am even hesitating staying here. There are other dvc resorts I am willing to consider for much less points. We are talking about booking a 2 bedrm & studio at BLT for about the same we could get a GV for at OKW. And, except for our last stay, we love OKW.
However, we stayed 2 nights at BLT MK view last Nov. in a 2 bedroom and loved the view. Had no idea how truly fortunate we were until I read this thread. I will try to post pictures of our view.

Now I am more confused than ever. I will have to think about this. But sincerely thank you to everyone!!

Haven't they changed some of the rooms as far as categories? We were too low to have what was "lake view" in January 2010, and when I called DVC, they agreed and I thought the room was going to be considered standard. It wasn't a whole lot of point difference, but they did listen to me.

I don't think they have but :confused3. I also called about the MK view and was told they would pass on the info to the higher ups and perhaps some of the room classifications would be looked at. However, more than a year later someone posted about have that same MK view room so I'd say nothing was changed there. From pictures I've seen I think some of the LV rooms have better MK views than the studio I was in and there could be some switching around done.

The thing about the LV rooms with MK views is that the castle is not "dead center." But I'd rather see the lake during the day and have to look off to the left at night to see the fireworks.

That's the way many of the MK view rooms are too - the castle is not centered. That's why I feel some of the LV rooms with the MK views are better -especially if they are on the higher floors. My direct view from the MK studio can be seen above. I had to sit on the arm of the sofa by the sliding door or else be out on the balcony to even see the castle.
