Does anyone know how BLT is selling? Are they selling out anytime soon? We were thinking of adding on (after only having bought a year ago...)

HAHA...no...they haven't even declared all of their units yet. That said, even if they sell out, you will still be able to buy from them (or through resale channels). Selling out just means that they will not actively push that resort, but all resorts are still for sale if you ask.

I don't think there have been any declarations for quite some time - and the last time there were it put it at 55-60%.

It'll be awhile yet before it sells out.

Yep.. they can always get a ROFR contract and sell it. Hence why buying resale on older resorts is usually smarter.

So no forthcoming DVC Grand Floridian or DVC Polynesian announcements :-(

Which is good, because I couldn't afford to add on the Poly right now anyway which would make me sad.

You can already by BLT resale, which really makes you wonder...
Anyway, resale contracts are going for about $102 a point. Not a great savings over anyone who gets incentives from DVC.

My guide did tell me recently when I had inquired about adding on at BLT that they were getting close to selling out of Feb. UY, which is my current UY. So, I would think if they sell in order there' still be quite a bit of points to go before it's sold out? :confused3

This thread may help you...

50% of total BLT points sold.
63% of resort declared.

Sales slowed after they raised the BLT price in early October and promoted great incentives for AKV. Prior to that, sales were heavily in favor of BLT. Time will tell if things change now that Disney Vacation Development raised the price for BWV, BCV, WLV, and reduced incentives for AKV.

Throw in the closing costs and that adds a few dollars per point. That puts you even with buying direct from Disney.

Based on deeds recorded through 2/24/2010, with the Orange County Comptroller, about 49.52% of BLT's estimated 5,733,530 points have been sold. About 63.04% of BLT has been declared for the DVC membership; the rest is still under the control of DVD. The last declaration of Units for BLT was made on 11/10/2009, almost four months ago. This is the longest gap between BLT declarations since its inception. However, since DVD has about 775,000 points in its declared-but-unsold inventory (as of 2/24/2010), I don't think there will be another declaration in the next 2-3 months.

All the UYs are available at BLT, but February is the predominant UY at BLT. DVD has all eight UYs in active use and does not "sell out" one UY before it moves on to another UY. Of BLT's 3,614,295 points that have been declared to date, 54.59% are in the February UY. DVD still has over 202,000 February UY points in its unsold inventory, and there is nothing to prevent DVD from placing some of the undeclared Units in the February UY. So, I'm surprised to hear that the February UY is getting close to selling out.

I am thinking that this essentially is what they did when selling Jambo or SSR - ie, when a new member bought there was a certain UY they were given until that UY was "sold out" and then the next year became the one given. For the most part it didn't mean that every single point in the UY was sold but it was no longer the main UY assigned. By the time it was hitting the Dec UY's there were some UY's that people couldn't get or had to wait for points. At least if I'm recalling correctly.

I've been tracking sales at BLT, AKV, and SSR for the last 9 months, and I've noticed some patterns in DVD's use of UYs. When BLT, AKV, and SSR's THV Units were opened for sale, DVD declared at least one Unit for each UY. It makes sense to do this because the initial sales were aimed at existing DVC members, and those members already had all eight UYs. At BLT, February was the default UY until 9/09 or 10/09. But during the Holiday season DVD began pushing February UY again, mainly because it was offering "double" points (2009 & 2010) for those who bought by January 2010.

I've always wondered why DVD picks a certain UY as the predominant UY for a resort. At BLT, its February, at AKV, its December, and at VWL, its August.

Here's my guess at the UY's b/c I've wondered too. I thought the VGC (I assume that's what you meant - not VWL) started out with June and now it sounds like it's default is Aug. My guess with that would be that the 2009 June UY's were the first that had points so they didn't start out with Feb. UY's. BLT's had points in all the UY's so they started at the beginning. AKV - hmmmmmmm. :confused3 Oh well, maybe nothing is logical at all! I know things got a bit confusing when Jambo sold out and Kidani was still months from opening. With a May opening the later UY's could get current points - although the resort wasn't open. That may be why AKV is a later UY and hasn't moved off of it yet to circle around to the Feb/Mar/Apr UY's.
