If traveling with an 8 year old, where would he sleep in Studio or 1 bedroom??

He moves A LOT in his sleep. So, same bed is out.

You don't say how many people are in your party (in total). If it's just you and your 8 year old, one of you can sleep in the bed and one of you on the sleep sofa.

WDW DVC Studios have one queen bed and one double sleep sofa. The exception is OKW which has two queen beds.

One bedrooms have one king bed in the bedroom and a queen sleep sofa. The BLT 1 bedrooms and some of the AKV 1 bedrooms also have a sleep chair and officially sleep 5 plus an infant (rather than 4 plus an infant).

Another option (assuming your party doesn't exceed the occupancy maximums) is to bring along an aero bed (or similar) for him. There is enough floor space to accommodate the aero bed, even in the studios.

In a studio there is a pull out sofa (except OKW which has 2 queen beds)In a 1 bdrm there is a pull out sofa in the living area.

Just two of us :)

Yeap, 8 yr old in the pull-out and you in the queen.;) This is what I do with my 10 yr old dd. I totally understand the not sharing the same bed. My dd can't even sleep in a king with me, she's all over!! LOL! (we stay at SSR a lot either in a studio or 1 bd villa-which is great because with the 1 bedroom you each pretty much get your own room-my dd gets the living room with the pull-out and I get the king in the bedroom!)

I think it depends on what you're looking for in your room. Both are VERY nice, but different. A studio is more like a hotel room, where a 1-BR is more like a small apt.

A studio is going to have a small frig (think dorm room frig size), and is one room (SSR is approx 355 sq feet). A 1-BR has a full kitchen, living room (which has a pull-out bed), and a master bedroom (with master bath and whirlpool tub). A SSR 1-BR is approximately 714 square feet.

Though it won't be exactly the same for BLT, it will be really close. Here are some pics from a SSR 1-BR.
