BLT room request luck?

Hi all,
I am wondering if people have had good luck with room requests at the BLT. My dad made the reservations this time and asked for one of three specific rooms (against my suggestion because I have read a bunch of times on these boards that this is not a good idea) or a room on one of the upper levels. Just wondering, have people had good luck with requests like this at the BLT?

P.S. We have a dedicated two bedroom with a lake view in the beginning November.

It really isn't a good idea to request specific room number(s) because if not available for dates of your stay then it leaves them to guess on what it is that might be important to you( view? higher floor? outer side of building? ) Requests should be made with what is most important to you listed first & most members will list just that one particular detail but some may note 2 or 3. Requests are just that and are not guaranteed in any way whether you make 1 or several. You will have a lakeview because that is guaranteed because it is a booking category.

This thread by work2play is worth reading to understand how best to make a BLT room request. Some lake views are located on outer side of BLT and actually have MK views so that may be something you want to consider when making a request.

We stayed there and had specifically requested to stay on a high floor, on the outside, facing north. We were placed in the middle (9th floor) facing the pool. The rooms facing the pool have over half of the view blocked by other rooms. We spent the last four days of our vacation staring at other people on balconies, in various stages of disrobement. We tried to get a MK view, but those had been booked solid from the first day of the seven month booking period for non BLT owners. If DVC had a specific category, I would have either been guaranteed the view I wanted, or would have known I would be getting a pool view and would not have been disappointed. I would have been willing to use more points for the additional view. My advice would be if you cannot get a MK view, don’t bother with a bay lake view. If you get stuck on the inside, your view would be just as good, if not better with a standard view. We were also supposed to be in a 2BR lock off, but got a dedicated 2BR. When we complained, we were told by the CM, “You can see the bay. You’re in a two bedroom. You got what you paid for.” If enough people complain about this, DVC might actually do something about it.

We've stayed at BLT 3x since it's opening last August & will be there again this August.

I honestly don't think there's a bad view to be had here. We've stayed Standard view in the past with great rooms on both the inner & outer sides.

We have our first LV room coming up this summer only because the SV was booked for our dates. I wouldn't stress over it.

We stayed in a studio with a Magic Kingdom view just a couple of weeks ago and our only request was for a high floor. We ended up on the 10th floor in 8028. It was ok but I wouldn't spend the extra points on a MK view again, especially since the view was much better the higher one went.

I wouldn't spend the extra points on a MK view again.

I have to agree. Not that we've stayed MK view but that the Standard view rooms we've had were great

I'd say that was a waste of a request. And a request is just that. Not guaranteed at all.
