BLT request question

HI all. I will be going to BLT in February and have a one bedroom lake view booked. I've been looking at the different threads about where the rooms are and have decided that I want an outer rim room on the North end of the building. I know I need to request an even numbered room and I would like it a higher floor. My question is for people that have made requests: should I just say a "high floor" what does Member Services consider that? Do they consider floor 6 high? If I want floor 10 or higher should I request that? If I ask for the North end of the building will whoever is assigning rooms know what that means?? I just want my request to make sense. Thanks for everyone's input.

The more specific you are, in a way, the less likely it is that the request can be filled.

However, if you define higher floor as 10 and above and it really matters, then I would say it like that and hope for the best.

And, I believe that they will understand the north part of the building. We are going in December and have SV booked. I want to be on the side facing MK so I just said, "Even # room facing the parking lot".

If I get it great, if not, no big deal as I know that it is just a request.

MS doesn't assign your room, a room assigner at the Contemporary does. For reasons unknown, it seems that there are more cash guests getting the higher floors.

I had requested a room near the elevator and high in the tower.
I received a room right next to the elevator at the sky bridge and on the 6th floor. The sky bridge is on the 5th floor.

The view from the 6th floor was very nice and being so close to the Contemporary was even better. It made it so convenient to run down to the Grand Concourse whenever we wanted.

We all felt very lucky to have such a great view.

We requested 12th floor or higher, north creasant, even numbered room.. We got 15th floor, north creasant, odd numbered room (which defeated the WHOLE PURPOSE OF THE REQUEST). I would make sure you order your request in the order that is most important to you. If I had done even numbered room, north creasant, 12th floor or higher, at least I would have had some sort of view I wanted. Oh, and BTW, The CM's at the Contemporary have NO IDEA about BLT. (At least the one we encountered at check in didn't). Even when they give you your room number, they give you a "map", but basically have no idea where anything is located. It was like, ok, here you go, good luck! I wasn't happy with them at all...But.. room was very nice, and the view was pretty also, just wasn't what I really had my heart set on, but I was happy with it in the end.....

Good Luck!

Do you have any data to support your statement? On work2play's thread on BLT room locations and views, there seems to be a lot of members who are reporting that they are getting rooms on floors 8 and above. I don't know whether these members represent a minority of BLT guests.

Info comes from the resort and DVC boards, and from talking to people at BLT. Most of the upper floors have not been declared yet so they would only be available to cash Guests. Smart marketing move on Disney's part, put the cash Guests and possible DVC purchasers on the higher floors.

Its true that DVD has not declared most of the 2-bedroom villas on the 8th floor, nor none of the 2-bedroom villas on floors 9-14. And most of the 2-bedroom villas on floor 16 haven't been declared for the membership (see TSMIII's thread on BLT at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2212548). Nevertheless, Members have been assigned to villas on those floors even though they have not yet been declared for the Membership (see http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2257082).

Even though specific villas have not been declared for the Membership, members have access to those villas under Exhibit G, Section 3.7 of the Declaration of Condominium, the "Reciprocal Use by DVD and Club Members" clause. What this clause means is that if 53% of the villas have been declared for the Membership, then Members can book using points up to but not exceeding 53% of ANY the completed villas whether they be on the bottom floor or the top floor. Points reservations by Members are limited by the number of villas declared, not by the specific villa declared. I don't see how only cash guests would get the top floors.

We stayed in September; requested high floor, even numbered room and got just that. We were in dedicated 2 bedroom on the 11th floor. I believe it was 8102 (the last unit on the left going away from the elevators.) I like being away from elevators when we stay at hotels, so that was an added bonus.

Respectfully, that is not how it works.

As others have posted, the % declared only determines how many rooms may be booked with points in each category - MK View, Lake View and Standard View. There are no restrictions on room assignments (for BLT) other than that. Placement is entirely up to the resort.

I had a dedicated 2 BR, lake view.
I requested high floor, north side. I got room 8605, 16th floor, facing the lake. I was happy with the room, but I was hoping for an even # room. I should have added that to the request.

I think they'll understand your requests.

DH and I checked in 2 weeks ago 1 bedroom lake view. The room was ready at 10:30 and we were on the 11th floor. We assumed that we got in early because the resort isn't sold out.

You got in early because either the previous occupants left early enough for housekeeping to clean the room by 10:30 am, or because the resort was not fully booked the night before and that room was vacant.

Sales have nothing to do with the time of day you get your room. Any rooms not sold can be reserved by the general public through CRO. So it's very possible for the entire resort to be booked solid for a particular night even if DVD hasn't finished selling memberships.

Hope you enjoyed your stay. :)

We also stayed at BLT in October, requested a high floor room and got one. Met quite a few DVC members at the pool and in the lounge. Some were also staying on the upper floors. Clearly DVC members are getting those rooms.

We were Lake View right in the middle of the crescent looking directly at the pool area. It was wonderful. We slept with our drapes partially open and were awakened by the sun rising. although it must be nice to see the fireworks from your room, this view was just beautiful. We have stayed in all the DVC resorts except AKV and I think that it is the best so far (except of course waking up to a view of the ocean at Vero!)
