I read something about a BLT Rehab this fall...anyone have any insight? I just banked points that I will need to use there but wondering what, and when any rehab may be starting. Thanks.

They are doing a soft goods refurb. It's supposed to be completed in Oct.

From the member website:

"Resort Refurbishment
Please pardon our pixie dust! In an ongoing effort to improve the quality of facilities and offerings at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, some locations will be undergoing enhancements starting in April 2016. While we are working our magic, you may see and hear construction taking place around the Resort. We will attempt to limit any work most likely to cause a noise impact to the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This refurbishment is expected to be completed in late fall 2016. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

We are staying at BLT starting May 22nd. Received a letter in the mail several weeks ago. That construction would be taking place then

Note that given recent projected finish dates vs. reality, "Finished in October" likely means January. :rolleyes2

Some of them manage to stay on schedule. Afterall, they did VWL in a month. Of course, it shows too. But the soft goods have typically been more or less on schedule.

I cannot figure out what exactly happened at BWV but that was tile work etc.

Yeah, there's that.

And yeah. BWV involved furnishings too. But still. They remind me of some IT project managers I've worked with lately. "We need 300 hours of labor, and we have 1.5 FTEs on this project? Sure, we can get it done in a month!" lolNO.**

** 1.5 FTEs still ends up about 45 total hours/week on a project, even if they're not allocated to any other work. So, that's 6-7 weeks, without massive OT, or vacation time, or mandatory all-day team meetings.

Sorry...What is a soft goods refurb? Bedding, etc??? Thanks!

Paint, wallpaper, carpets, drapes, bedding, reupholster couches, chairs, ottomans--those kind of things. I think the repair paint chips and other damage to furniture too. But they don't replace any furniture.

Or very little furniture. I remember when VWL got a soft goods refurb in 2009 or so and they were switching to flat panel TV's. At that time they also replaced the TV dresser. So sometimes, I imagine if there's a reason, they can do a bit of furniture too.

In what order do they do the refurbs? From the bottom floor up? we will be there in August and have a HA 2br Lake view. From what I read the HA rooms are on the higher floors.
