So I assume no pool hopping from other DVC resorts, right? Or does anyone know?
Assuming these are going to be the rules when Bay Lake Tower opens, to make things fair shouldn't they also say no pool hopping to the Contemporary pool for anyone staying at Bay Lake Tower? I have a hard time seeing one set of guests being allowed use a pool at a location they are not staying at, however it's ok to make the Bay Lake Tower pool off limits for the Contemporary guests. Both locations are going to be adjacent to each other and other WDW/DVC Resort combinations like the Wilderness Lodge/Villas at the Wilderness Lodge share both the regular pool and the DVC pool between guests staying at either location.
When I stayed at VWL a few years back, the Lodge guests were not allowed to use the Villa quiet pool. The Villas could use the main pool at the Lodge, however.
This may be another one of those things where Disney says one thing and then says and does another in practice. Before we were DVC owners we stayed in the Wilderness Lodge. It was only our second disney trip and our first at a deluxe resort. We asked at check in if we could use both pools or just the main one. We were told both pools were for the use of all guests.

Well the Contemporary pool area is being renovated with a lot of trees and plants to make it look more tropical, so it will look better then it use to. However no matter if anyone likes it or hates I still don't think it makes sense to allow Bay Lake Tower guests access to the Contemporary pool, but the same would not be allowed for the Contemporary guests to use the Bay Lake Tower pool. So that's why I think it should even where both pools can be shared or not to be shared. In all honesty, I don't think there will be many people who will want to pool hop over to the pool at the Contemporary if they're able to use the DVC pool. DVC pools are always well themed with pretty landscaping & at least to my family, the Contemporary pool is rather boring looking.
Right now it does not make sense for use to buy into Bay Lake Tower, although maybe one day that will change. However if we ever wanted to stay there on points we have friends who have been DVC members since 1991, so we would speak to them about borrowing some points.shellybaxter said:CR Fan - I've been wondering if your family is going to buy BLT points? I thought I remembered you having a signature pic of the "comtemporary DVC" long before it was even announced - when people were still just hoping.

Just a perk to owning DVC, I guess.

No telling what the actual policy will be (or, if it is limited whether the policy will be enforced)
...As to the equal sharing part, though, currently DVC guests can pool hop at most resort pools (most of the time) when staying on points whereas regular resort guests do not have that perk...![]()
Yes we do go twice a year, however in the past we have priced out the cost to join DVC and it did not make any sense for us.Are you sure about that? ........ I've seen you on these boards for a couple years. Don't you go at least twice a year??![]()
I know DVC guests staying on points can pool hop which is not the issue here. I just think in this situation since both the Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower are both adjacent to each other it's weird telling one set of guests they swim there, but they need to tell the other guests no. Also on the pool hopping topic if a non DVC member is staying at Bay Lake Tower and they got a room with CRO, does that mean they can not swim at the Contemporary pool? Or is not considered to the pool hopping since they claim anyone staying at Bay Lake Tower can swim there. Finally I am sure we can agree if the Contemporary was closed for whatever reason wouldn't they tell anyone they can swim at Bay Lake Tower, since it's right there and it's easier then going to the Polynesian.dcfromva said:No telling what the actual policy will be (or, if it is limited whether the policy will be enforced)
