Would you stay at BLT in a theme park view studio or at AKV in a savannah view studio? Why? This would be in June for a family of four (me, DH, DD6, and DS3).

The DW and I are in the process of purchasing a contract at AKV - we love the resort and both agreed that was the only place we would buy into.

If you have never stayed there - AKV is like a theme park in itself - and your two DDs will be the perfect age to take part in many of the activities at the resort. So a word of warning - if you do book AKV, plan on spending a lot of time there ... :)

The decor/atmosphere at the BLT/Contemporary just doesn't do it for us - it's gotta be 180-degrees different than AKV!!! So the DW and I have no desire to stay there ... That being said, if you plan to spend a lot of time at the MK or Epcot (via the monorail), BLT does have that advantage ...

So my vote: AKV!! (and I didn't even mention Boma .... :)

It all depends on what your interests are.

with your kids ages - MK will probably be the park you are at the most - so BLT - although won't go for a MK view - the lake view are very nice just get a room on the outside of the C - not the inside

That is a really tough one, as I love both resorts. Given that you have 2 DD's and they are young, I would choose BLT. The rooms are small, but they will sleep together fine (unlike one boy and one girl). Being THAT close to the MK with a MK View can not be beat! I would suggest AKV Kidani when they are older and will enjoy the pool and animals more.

I've stayed at both BLT and AKV. I have to say looking at the ages of your children, I would go AKV. My DD8 and her two-year-old sister were amazed the entire time we were at AKV. At night you can use night vision goggles to look at the animals on the walkway.

Little Rosie wouldn't come off that balcony. Every time we got to the room, she would run to the door to look out at her G-Raffs.

MK is definitely the park we spend the most time at. We have always stayed at the values but are in the process of buying into DVC. We were thinking about how nice it would be to walk to MK or ride the monorail. Why not go with a MK view though? We thought it would be awesome to view the fireworks from the balcony.

Truthfully, what are the chances that a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old are still awake for fireworks. Now it is handy to be able to take a monorail over to MK but it really doesn't take that long from AKL.

Nope ours won't make it. They are usually snoozing by 8:00! I was just thinking about DH and me!;)

I would choose AKL - there is something to be said for the convenience of BLT for MK and Epcot (via Monorail) but there is nothing like waking up early in the morning and watching the animals before breakfast.

Rooms, views, and resorts are personal precedence choices. It depends on the family.
Some will love AKV and others will love BLT.

IMHO, both are great choices for very different reasons. AKV is an escape from the parks. BLT is more about the location MK/monorail.

Have a great time and enjoy your vacation.

We did a split stay at BLT and Kidani last summer and both resorts were amazing but very different. Is a split stay an option so you could experience both? There is nothing like watching Wishes from your balcony but it's also pretty awesome to have all those animals wandering around outside.

We did a MK View and loved it and it was a great one time splurge but to be honest, we only watched the fireworks from the room one night, the rest we were either at the parks or asleep. It was a beautiful view and DD loved waking up to the castle and watching it change colors at night!

We did the same thing. We watched the fireworks from the balcony one night. We watched the fireworks from the Top of the World Lounge once. The rest of the time we were in the parks or asleep. On trips with younger children along late nights ain't happening.

I would choose AKV. The theme is something you can't find anyplace else. We really enjoy watching the animals right outside.

walk to the mk -ride the monorail to Epcot. although you can ride the monorail to MK for fun - but it takes alot longer.

the firework view are expensive - very expensive. you need to remember that the fireworks and the parking lot are the same view. If you get a higher floor greeat - but if you get a lower floor (mk view starts on the 5th foor or will in 2013 - right now it starts on 2nd floor). you might not enjoy the fireworks that way. with some standrd views you can see the fireworks off to the side.

the monorail at BLT is still seem from the 6th and 7th floors at BLT - it stops at CR on the 4th.

if you get a lake view - you will generally see a beautiful lake - and some have a MK view to their side. so your chances of getting a real nice view are more with lake view than MK views.

that say if you manage to get a MK view at 10th floor or higher you will love it

dh, dd6, ds3?

Thanks for the input. I guess alot of it will depend on availability. I do think the kids would really enjoy the savannah view at AKV! I think we will try for AKV and BLT will be our second choice.
