Just an FYI - we are at BLT right now. We had a notice under our door today that our room would be getting the new lock for our door tomorrow between 10am & 4pm. It says no need to change the key itself, it will continue to work with the new tech.

Well, that's fascinating!
They said that BLT was next in line to get the new RFID keys that they just implemented at Art of Animation!
You just simply wave your key on front of the door, and CLICK your door unlocks!
I stayed at a Choice Hotel property this winter that had that key technology - and I have to admit, it's pretty cool - it definitely eliminates a lot of key fumbling and stumbling when you have full hands - or are struggling with baggage - it works very well!

Excited to stay there and see how it works - we are staying in a Grand Villa in a few months!

Unfortunately we check out & move over to BWV so we won't get to get it out :)

We were at BC last week when they changed the locks. It was kind of neat. DD4 enjoyed it since she could open the door easier!

Thats good to know. I just hope it doesn't deactivate when near a cell phone. Have to be careful with that. 5 more weeks.

Interested in checking this out. Will be there in just over a month. Yeah!

We just checked out of BLT and had that same notice. It was very general- it said "tomorrow" but not a specific date.
We checked in on Friday and out on Sunday, but no one ever changed the locks. And I never saw anyone working on them.

I was excited to be able to check it out, but it never happened.

I'll be at VWL next week, and hope they have the new key system

We are at BCV now and have the new system. It is pretty cool. Just tap picture of Castle on KTW card over Mickey head on lock and door unlocks. no waving it aound. The only thing they told us on check in that may pose a problem for some is, that exactly at 11am on the day of check out the key deactivates, so if you need to re-enter your room for any reason you can not. You can still use it for dining plan etc., but if you forgot something in your room you have to go to the front desk. Not sure how accurate this is, since we are still here.
