Considering staying at BLT with a MKV this December, is it worth the extra money? Can you see the fireworks from your room. Have a 5 and 8 year old.

Thanks

We stayed there in June of 2013 and had an MK view. We could see fireworks and enjoyed the view. Highly recommend it if you have the chance. DVC members can also take advantage of the Top of the World bar at the top of BLT. Great view of the MK and the fireworks as well.

Yes IMO it is worth the points, but I am a view person. If it is more important to you to save points and go with a cheaper point per night room, then you might not think it is worth it.

If you stay in a lake view you can see the fireworks from the lobby of the north elevator on each floor or on the skybridge between BLT and CR in addition to the observation deck near TOTWL. However, the observation deck has a chest high (4') concrete wall that children have trouble seeing over so they can't see the castle but they can see the fireworks in the sky.

A no vote here. Have had both Theme Park and Lake view and believe Lake view is far better. First, the theme park view is mostly just an ugly parking lot view if you get any floor below 7 (5 and 6 are considered TP view and if you get them, you may feel ripped off by Disney's decison not to make more of the lower floors standard view which 5 and 6 should be). 7 is even iffy and you really need 8 or above. High floors are a non-guaranteed request. Moreover, from the high floors, TP view still has the ugly parking lot, a view of the monorail and the side of Cont. You see only a small porition of the lake and the theme park somewhat to the right with the closest view being the very unexciting top of Space Mountain. What theme park view is good for is seeing the castle (much farther away than many pictures make it seem) and wishes at night but not much else.

With Lake view, and particularly if you request and get high floor, you can get some incredible views like on the North wall where you see the lake and lots of trees in the distance, a channel, and to the left MK (the same stuff at MK you see from TP view), or the the end of the south wall looking at Epcot and seeing the lake and the nightly water parade. From the center of the building you get a view of the large lake, the former Discovery Island and forest in the distance, an excellent view all day long and not just for the 20 minutes of fireworks at night like TP view.

Also, by Dec I assume you mean next year and that you will have use of the 11 month reservation window. If you will be relying on the 7 month window, then the only week you will have a real chance for TP view or lake view or any room at BLT is third week of Dec.

We had a LV room at the far north end. We had a view of the lake and off the Master balcony we had a view of Space Mountain and if you look to the left Cinderella's Castle. We sat on our sofa and watched wishes, with music piped in from the tv. So, you do not need MK view to see wishes from your room.

We also watched on two occasions Wishes from TOWL balcony area. It is a large area with benches outside the lounge. We did this last year when we stayed on the 16th floor with a pool and lake view.:thumbsup2

I agree, here is what you will see:

I'm also enjoy a good view, and I love the BLT MK view we had when we stayed there. That said, not all MK views are created equal. I posted the photo comparison below on the BLT room view thread (a great resource if you are wondering what your points are getting you).

In my opinion, higher is better. But maybe only marginally.

Also, in my opinion, the bigger difference maker is whether your room looks straight out at the MK (rooms ending in xx16, xx18, xx20) or more towards the GF and the CR main hotel. (rooms ending in xx26, xx28, xx30). From rooms ending in xx30, you can only see the castle if you are up against the window or out on the balcony and looking to your right. See the comparison below...

If you are going this December, you may want to look into ssr. Even if it's full, if you stalk the site, you may luck into something. BLT, even the high points rooms, is gonna be near impossible. I own there and couldn't get in for December because my family couldn't get a date we agreed on in time.

The view is nice but remember its mostly parking lot in the foreground. We got lucky with a north facing lake view and had a view of the fireworks. You could try requesting that to save some points!

Not worth the points for MK to us. Even if we had the points for MK view I'd probably still ask for LV. Its much more serene and much less parking lot.

The first time we stayed at BLT we had a MK view and it was not worth it (to us). We were not on a particularly high floor, so you mostly just saw parking lot. We also like to sit out on our balcony in the late afternoon and it was way to hot and sunny (no sun protection). We had to crane our heads to the right to see the fireworks. The 2nd time we stayed in a lake view. While we had to crane our heads to see the lake (the rooms in the center of the U are far superior to those on the insides), it was still better than the MK view. We couldn't see fireworks from that room. On our third stay we had a standard view. We requested a higher floor facing tennis courts and were able to see the fireworks the best we have ever seen! Friends of ours had booked a lake view and were several floors higher than us and had pretty much the same view. Fireworks CAN be seen from other room categories but there are no guarantees. Good luck!

Put me in the yes camp. I love the view and watching the fireworks and other activities from the balcony. It's great to do if you have an early morning and still want to see the fireworks.

It's also nice to sit w/ a beverage after the kids have collapsed and kind of wind down with a fantastic view of the park.

High floor. High floor. High floor.

Another yes!! Have stayed several times mk and lake view

If u are lucky and get a lake view on the north side outer C that is good too. However got the inside last trip and our view was of the rooms across the way. Watched kids play xbox every night. Not the same as watching the castle!

If u have the pts or $$ MK view is the best there is
