Considering a stay at BLT in December for a night or 2 in lieu of my BWV reservation. For some reason, I am hesitant to stay there. I don't love the CR so I don't think I will like BLT. Proximity to MK is a plus but otherwise not sure. Thoughts?

BWV is my favorite resort due to location. I have stayed at BLT one time enjoyed the easy walk to MK but missed the BW. I like to try out all the DVC resorts at least once.

I felt the same way - had no desire to stay there. We stayed one night in March at the beginning of our Spring Break vacation because I wasn't able to add that night at Kidani. It was lovely! We booked a theme park view. I didn't feel like the finishes were as "cheap" as I'd heard. As you said, the location is priceless. CMs were wonderful. We happened to be placed on the floor w/ the bridge to the hotel which was incredibly convenient. I'm not particularly a fan of the pool, but that's just my taste. There's nothing inherently wrong w/ it. I won't seek to stay there again, but I sure won't bash the place.

stayed there a few years ago. just didn't feel disneyesque to me. more like a city hotel. but that's just me. also didn't like fact that they didn't even have a place for coffee. had to go over to contemporary. not that that's too much of a hassle but i was close to bridge. that may have changed since i have been there. would i stay again-no. like pp i like the epcot resort area. bcv is my favorite. only plus of blt was mk walkable and monorail. but i think everyone should try resorts at least once to form their own opinion. what one likes another doesn't vice versa

I like to watch the fireworks from the TOTW lounge. I know you do not have to be staying at BLT to do that (most days) but it is easiest to do when staying there!:goodvibes. In December you may be able to see the party Wishes if there's a MVMCP when you are there.

We thought that we wouldn't like BLT for the same reason...we don't really like the feel of CR. However, after staying there we now have it in our regular rotation of places to stay (we own at VWL and BWV).

Not only the proximity to MK, but a monorail there as well. And the monorail to EPCOT. So similar to BWV, it is ultra-convenient to get to two of the parks without going through the bus system.

We prefer the lake view side of BLT..the views of Bay Lake are awesome especially with the "picture window" aspect of the BLT living rooms (we get 1BR accommodations).

Counter service at CR is much better than the counterpart at BWV (the Bakery?).

Don't get me wrong...we love BWV and are staying there again in a few months. But go ahead and give BLT a try. The worst that can happen is that you can cross it off your list for future stays.

We own at BLT and LOVE it!! Love the walk to MK! The rooms are great, especially the extra bathroom in the 1 bdrm. You should try it!

The Location is fantastic!! We went over to see BLT when it opened during one of our trips. I dont think the resort is really my taste, but I would still like to stay once to try it out.

We like staying at SSR when we dont rent a car, so we can walk over to DTD.

This year we booked later than usual because we were not sure when/if we could go. SSR was the only resort that had the full week open. I dont care to split my stay, I want to relax on vacation. But, I am hoping over the next few years we get to try them all.

Love love love! BWV is also a favorite . . . I also did not think I'd like BLT bc I'm not a fan of the contemporary/a line/concrete but I loved the color scheme, the playful Disney pop art touches, and the well laid out design of BLT. Location and convenience is fantastic. Staff is great (although the edge goes to BWV). Views, both lake and theme park, are wonderful.
I love that no matter where your room is, you are close to the pool, the zero entry is nice, and the kids loved the slide, but it isn't one of my favorite pool areas ( the green and blue glass mosaic wall and Mickey ears do make me smile though)
Yes, you have to walk to the Contemporary for food, but that is closer than many other DVC resorts, including the Boardwalk Bakery or the mile long hikes at Kidani . . . And the food at the Contempo Cafe is delicious. I also really enjoy the Grand Canyon atmosphere, and although it is busy it never seems loud, crowded or hectic al la some of the food courts. I would definitely encourage you to give it a shot, but if you decide it isn't for you, then I just have better odds of getting a room- the place stays booked! :-)

We love it. Own at Kidani but my kids always ask me to swap for BLT it's our favorite resort.

Love it! Our favorite place to stay. TOWL is our favorite place in all WDW. CM's are awesome. It is one of our home resorts. Love the QS at The Contemporary and their coffee place too.

We tolerate it because of the proximity to MK. We have only stayed in 2 bedrooms, not sure if we'd feel different in another room. I don't care for the sliding doors. The look and feel just doesn't do it for me and I'm always worried the kids will get hurt. They slide very easily. They are sliding doors, not pocket doors (which are fine at VGF). All the concrete on the balconies makes it feel industrial. And I feel like there's nothing to do outside of MK. Whereas at BWV, we'd take a walk after dinner and enjoy the shows and grab ice cream.

I do like the laundry room with an actual door, but I wish they'd put it somewhere not as close to the thermostat.

This will sound contradictory but moving from BLT to BWV will likely make BWV feel old and worn. Regardless, we stay at BLT to go to MK, then we move to BWV for our vacation ;)

ETA: Bell services has been awful the last 2 times we were there. They are shorthanded and often have to wait for someone to come from CR. Last Nov we called at 10ish, it was a 40min wait.

We really enjoyed the convenience and our room was in great shape last summer. I don't care for the pool, but we pool hopped to the Poly and enjoyed that. If that gets disallowed in the future, it could affect our decision to stay at BLT.

I don’t like the look of CR and had the opportunity to stay there years ago in one of the garden wings….maybe I would have felt different if we were in the main building, but I hated the garden wing. Despite that, we knew that we wanted to buy at BLT because of the location and I do like the look of it much better than CR.

Love the short walk to MK and to the monorail and I love having the second full bathroom in the one bedroom. We have had theme park view which is great but the lake view is beautiful too. I like that things are not as spread out as some of the other resorts.

I like the décor at BLT…would I decorate my own home like that?…no…but for a vacation home, I like it, particularly the Disney artwork.

DD who is now 7, prefers BLT over the other DVC resorts we have stayed…AKV, GFV, SSR and BCV.

For a night or two, it is worth giving it a try…you won’t know if you will like it until you stay there….although give it a two nights try….one night doesn’t seem to be enough time to “try” a resort. At least that is what I found when I stayed one night a BCV (prior to a cruise)…I really don’t know how I feel about this resort after one rushed night there and never got to experience the pool there because of the hours.

We own at BLT and love it!

The CR /BLT complex has a lot to offer 3 pools, 3 restaurants, marina, beautiful lake, steps to MK, monorail to 2 Deluxe resorts, boat ride to WL, monorail to TTC and the TOWL.

You really feel your at WDW when you step out of your car and you are looking at the Castle and SM.

I would give it a try. I have stayed at AKL and liked it but prefer BLT. :)

We just stayed at BLT for 3 nights and to be honest, that's the longest I would stay there. The walk to MK is great but I don't like the overall feel of the "hotel" (I can't call it a resort, I just can't). I'm not a fan of the theming at all - it could be any hotel in any city. It also feels very sterile and "cold". If we were to go for another weekend trip that centered on visiting only MK like we did this last trip, I'd stay there, but that's the only reason I would stay there.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I think we are going to try it for 1 night. It will give us our fill of MK.

Nice place to visit but don't buy there like we did. BWV is our favorite, can't get enough of the place.
