Am I the only one who thinks the BLT interior design is awful? It reminds me of an IKEA showroom. While, yes, the location is great, the rooms are not appealing to me at all. The furniture looks cheap and uncomfortable. As my DH said "It's 70's Futuristic" --- as if they went back to the original contemporary design of 1971.

personally i like most of Ikea's stuff but I dont like the new BLT rooms!!! I agree, its not the best!

What sticks out to me most (in the video and "higher quality" pictures) is the terrible lighting design.
I'm OK with modern, clean lines (well, I'd never do my house that way, but I'll entertain a vacation there), but a great part of modern, clean design is great lighting design. Clean lines and interesting lighting washing the walls can make a absoulteyl magical environment, but those BLT photos look like there will be obnoxious glaring, middle of the room lights an no great "gem quality" recessed lighting.. :(

To quote a friend of mine, who is so succinct . . . BLECH!

It's not to my particular taste at all. The video made it look truly awful. After seeing a couple of still photos it's not as horrible as I first thought but still not my cup of tea.

Luckily I am not obligated to buy in or stay there and there are many people who are happy to do so.

Different strokes.:confused3

Edit: Disclosure-I think I just realized why I hate it. It reminds me of the waiting room at the dentists office.

This is why I have stated all along that I have no interest in owning at BLT. I have always thought that the Contemporary decor both before & after the recent redecorating was hideous. That vile green color on the comforter reminds me of the ugly carpeting that is still on the stairs in my house that has been there as long as I have lived there which is most of my life. I didn't think they could make the decor any uglier than it already was but they have really outdone themselves on this one. Even most of the Ikea stuff isn't that ugly.

It kind of reminded me of that guy who has the laptop and does all the redesigning on "Hidden Potential" (HGTV).

I love how the living room wall is one big window but there is a small door to the side that leads to the balcony off the master bedroom

When I took the virtual tour of the unit on the member website on-line I ended up liking the rooms MUCH more.

I really like the pull-out pantry in the kitchens (and studio kitchenettes) and the aesthetics of the stainless steel appliances. I also like those square-backed bar chairs with the squares cut out of them. And the shower in the one-bedroom looks really cool. It has the rain shower head in the ceiling and another shower head on the wall...more like a spa shower. It's also nice to have the sliding panel separating the tub from master bedroom instead of the shutters that don't really give full privacy or close out noise and light.

It definitely has that contemporary feel to it though...which typically isn't my style (I'm a Wilderness Lodge type of gal). As the OP's husband commented above...it's "70's futuristic."

One thing I find interesting is the WHITE comforters. At least we'll know how "clean" they are...

I really don't like the decor, either. I was complaining to DH about it a little earlier this morning, saying it looked like faux 70's modern. (He's home today - we're recovering from Hurricane Ike and his office isn't open.) He called back to me that it was almost certainly something he would like since I hated it. (We get along beautifully, but we don't agree on decorating styles.) He came over and looked at a few pictures and thought it looked good. Well, I guess someone has to like it!

Hmm, I wonder if his liking it will mean a purchase in our future? (Probably not the near future. We're in the middle of a BWV resale purchase, so we have no budget for it.)

I mostly like it. The really dark wood could be a little lighter for my tastes, though.

The rendition on the dvc members web site is a lot better. I don't particularly care for the Contemporary but I gotta say if they keep those big windows in some of the units that overlook the castle along with the rendition of the master bath, I'd give it a try.

When I saw the youtube video, I did not like the interior of the room. My first thought, was "is that it". I had expected more. But after looking at the member's link, it looked better. It is still not for me. It also reminded me of the 70's look. To me, the only thing that it offers is walking distance to MK. I think I will eventually try to stay once.

Is it me or do the rooms seem a LOT smaller. The studio reminds me of a cruise cabin. I also thought the master bedroom looked small too. Does anyone the square footage?

That was one of my first thoughts! The rooms are TINY! No matter how weird the camera angle there isn't much room to move about in those rooms.

And it seems to be the theme of "stuck in the 70's". UGLY!

But still....it's a bed and a kitchen and walking distance to MK. Not much else really matters I guess.

I'm going to talk to DH again but I think we're in for 100pts just so we can stay a week there every few years.

I def. thought this as well. The master looks significantly smaller to me than the master in Jambo.

I think 70's kitch when I saw the photos. I think it I like it overall, not overwhelmed with love though...

One thing, is that a 'white' carpet in the master bedroom? It almost looked 'shag' to me :scared1: I cant see a carpet like that bearing up well over the years.....
