Does anyone stay at BLT often and it's your home resort and book a deluxe studio? We are working through our first contract for BLT and I've read that with the 11 months you can find a studio but was curious for more insight. Also do you get a standard or Lakeview? Was hoping to catch a standard annually during either January or later August when we typically decide to go. Appreciate any info on folks experience at BLT!

Also I saw the world lounge at bay lake. Can any DVC member including resale after 2017 go to the lounge?

Should have specified we would be looking for a week stay during those timeframes.

When booking BLT during those times, other than perhaps marathon weekend in January, you should have some good chances to get a standard view studio although those do go quickly even at 11 months so it may not be an annual thing. Getting a LV studio will be no issue though at 11 months.

Top of The World Lounge is located at BLT and it is open to all members no matter how they purchased. You will have an online member card that you will likely have to show to go up. Other than a few blackout dates when they restrict it to members that are staying at BLT TOTWL is open to any members staying anywhere onsite, even on cash reservations.

Hopefully, there are just two of you or maybe two adults and one small child. Those BLT studios are very small.

I don't have a lot of experience, but the standard studios seem to go fast pretty much all year. Sometimes within minutes of 8am (December), but sometimes they last for a week or two. If you wait too long into the 11 month window, you might not get a full week. I think you would be alright with January and August, as long as you are ready to book within the first week of 11 months.

This is one of the reasons I added on some points at BLT. The standard rooms are a great value.

I don't think there will be a problem getting a standard view studio for a January or August stay at 11 months - even for marathon weekend.

We've owned at BLT since 2009 and usually vacation between September and December and have gotten a standard view for all 7 of our BLT reservations (studio once, 1br twice, and a 2br four times). We did book at the 11 month mark. On one of those trips I had some family say they wanted to go at 10 months and had to book a 1BR lake view after the fact. I wait listed the standard view and got it 3 weeks later. Our reservations have been between 4 and 6 nights. I know you said you go August and January, but I think those are considered a bit less demand for DVC...which is a good thing. The only exception is marathon weekend...as others stated above.

As long as you are on the website at 8am at 11 months I think your odds are good to get a standard view.

We love BLT and I think it still is one of the best values when you consider cost + location.

The TOTWL is open to all members (including those that purchase resale after 4/4/2016).
Although, it is worth mentioning that there are black-out dates at TOTW (july 3-4, December 30-31) where if you are not a DVC member staying on points at BLT, you may not pass.
