BLT Home Resort availability - venting a bit...

Thank you all for the excellent replies. We will survive, and become more efficient planners as time rolls on. We will get to experience BLT in September, so all is not lost. And who knows, when we book in May for the Dec trip at another resort, we will have special experiences we might not have had a chance to enjoy before.

Since you are new, it may be worth calling your guide.

When we purchased last spring, we asked our guide to check on availability for early December. Our guide was able to get us a BLT room. Later we learned that people had been on waitlists for months. As others have mentioned sometimes guides can work some "magic". I suspect the "magic" comes from Disney using rooms that they still own. At resorts that are actively being sold, Disney has more wiggle room.

There's no guarantees, but it's worth talking to your guide and expressing disappointment.

Another thing that will likely make BLT very busy in the start of December is the filming of the Christmas Parade. When we were there, 1/3 of all the CR and BLT rooms had checkins/checkouts on the day the parade filming was supposed to end.

Unfortunately, I think they went ahead and made a reservation for September. Usually Disney allows the guides to help you get what you want for your "FIRST" reservation. If they had gotten help from their guide before making the sept reservation, they would have had a better chance.

If it makes anyone feel better, we are BLT owners too. We called at exactly the 11 month mark and were waitlisted for one of the days we wanted in Dec. We are going later in Dec. (over Christmas), but it is still discouraging. In the event we don't get it, we have ressies for the Renaissance Sea World to celebrate my birthday at Sea World and move over to WDW parks our new "first" day on site. I refuse to let my fun get spoiled.

For anyone trying to get into BLT, my advice is to Keep Calling!!
We're leaving for a very last minute trip to WDW on Sunday for 4 nights. When I booked it 3 weeks ago, the only thing available was Saratoga. In the past week, I've been able to book all 4 nights at AKV, and today I FINALLY was able to get the first 2 at BLT!! I'm so excited that on my first trip "home" I will be able to actually stay at my home resort!!:yay:
You never know what will happen and it never hurts to keep calling and asking them what is available!

Christmas time/early dec is hard to get a room anyway. Hopefully something will open up for you!
