BLT GV MKV at 7 mos out....

Glad things worked out for you! I've been reading this with interest because we're going to be booking a trip for the first week of May 2012. We've already got AKL booked but want to change it at 7 mo...which is coming soon. I hope we have good luck too. I noticed on another thread that you rented points from TSS. Did you do that in advance or wait until you called at 7 mo? If we can get the lower points views we have enough points but if only the higher views are available, we'll be short a few even with the one-time use points from Disney. It just depends on which resort & view is available...we're flexible but would like a 2 bed & studio at either BCV, BWV, BLT, or VWL. We could settle for 3 studios if points are a problem but I figure they'll be harder to get & really want the 2 bed anyway. A few extra points would really give us more options. I assume that the transferred points are only for a certain resort? I'm worried about this possible situation...we get the points transferred before we call & then find that the resort isn't available. Or we call 1st to check availability but after taking the time to get points transferred, the availability is gone & then you're stuck with the points. Set me straight on this if I've got it all wrong. The 7 mo time is coming soon so I'm trying to figure out all our options.

They explained that I should call DVC at the 7 month mark, book what nights I have enough points to book, then call TTS immediately following. I was able to transfer $$ via PayPal, then the TTS found points for us. And because we're at 7 months it's easier to find points because they can come from any Resort. The whole process took a couple of hours from start to finish. I suggest you call them in advance....they will explain EVERYTHING you need to know...and they are sooo nice to deal with! Good luck!!

You really cleared things up for me...I had totally forgotten about the fact that at 7 mo it didn't matter which resort the points were for. I don't know what I was thinking...I was making it way more complicated than it was. I think we're just going to go ahead & transfer the points now so they'll be there when we can book Oct 1st. If it turns out we don't need them, we just won't have to borrow all of 2013 points. I still had 50 points left after booking AKL but I knew we'd need them when we changed resorts at 7 mo. As long as we don't transfer more than 50 pts we'll be OK if we get lucky & don't need all of them. Having the extra 50 pts there will open up lots more options for us.

Have you stayed in one or are you referring to all the beautiful pictures here on the Dis? 'Cuz if you've stayed in one, I'd LOVE to hear about your experience!

Unfortunately I didn't stay there. My guide took us on a tour of one when I bought at BLT. I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. If I remember correctly, they are on 14 and 15th floors. You can enter on either floor. Makes it convenient for those who will be staying upstairs so it doesn't disturb those staying downstairs. I did take pictures. Need to locate them.
