BLT grand villa to TOTWL

we are staying in a 3br grand villA and were wondering if we could just walk up a floor to get to TOTWL or if we had to take the elevator down to main and go up again? We have never been on that floor before so we weren't sure if there was an easier way to get up there than by going down!

Any other tips/input on this room type? We are so excited!

Apparently there are stairs but we never did find them when we were in a GV, we just took the elevator down, checked in and got the 'special' elevator back up again.

Officially, they want to you check-in at the desk in the BLT lobby. If you do something else, how would they know. The BLT GVs have entrances on both floors, so 8 of the 14 GVs will have a entry on the 16th floor.

We were fortunate enough to get a 16th floor studio at BLT last year. It was so nice to just walk down the hall to the TOTWL and deck to see WISHES. We never went down to the first floor to check in - that just didn't seem necessary (Since our key allowed us to go to Floor 16 at any time) and there was always room on the deck if we didn't want to go into the lounge itself.

We didn't try the stairs, so I don't know the answer to your question for sure. But AFAIK from others' reports, the doors to the hallways are locked from the staiwell side, so you can't use them to bypass the security.

FYI - The check in desk keeps track of the guest count using TOTWL, using stairs doesn't update the count.

So what's to stop people then from just taking one of the elevators in the wings up to the 16th floor?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but I believe if your Villa isn't on the 16th floor I don't believe you can access it-you have to use your magic band to get the elevator to allow access to 16 (unless you go to the lobby desk to check in and they use their access card)

Huh. I was just there and used a side elevator to get to the 16th floor. I didn't even know about checking in at the lobby. Maybe that's why no one asked me for dvc membership proof (they ask downstairs? )

Maybe someone else got off at that floor too? I can't remember.

We just took the door out from the 2nd floor of th gv and walked to the lounge. We had a lake view. I think that you can walk there in lake views, but if you have a park view you cannot. I may be wrong about that.

People on that have access to the 16th floor from their villas go to TOTWL all the time without checking in at the lobby. Their MBs access the elevator to that floor. It is just a perk for getting a room that high up. Some day, sigh, I we are so lucky.
