We stayed in a 1 BR Standard view from 12/1-12/5. I was waiting to post our review until we got our photos ready to post, but I'm giving up
CHECKING IN: The ME bus ride was longer than I expected. I had read a post where a family got off at the Poly and took the Monorail to BLT, and we discussed that option but decided we wanted to see the outside of Wilderness Lodge. We arrived at noon and I waited to check-in (the absence of organization was disappointing, but I didn't wait long) while DH and the DDs hung out in the stylish lobby of the Contemporary. If the nice family who was leaving as we checked in is a DIS family, thanks again for the two Mickey/Minnie balloons - our kids loved them! When it was my turn, our room was ready. I asked if we got our request and was told we did. We had requested an even-numbered monorail view room. We got room 7226.
THE ROOM: We loved everything about this standard view room! Our kids enjoyed watching the monorail, DH has always been fascinated with the Contemporary, so he got to look at it, while I could see the MK fireworks from our LR couch! Granted it wasn't the best view of the fireworks, but for the 2 nights when we just couldn't pull ourselves away to see them from a better locale, it was a nice perk.
We love the overall feel of the decor, and the layout is awesome. Our kids not having to share a bed was a nice change, and us having our own bathroom was just priceless! The furniture was comfortable, and everyone but me slept really well. I got too hot in the bed, and kept waking up to cool off. While we did not cook (we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan), we liked the dishes and the the kitchen was well done. Our unit was in great shape.
AMENITIES: We enjoyed the TOWL, although I wish there was a better way for young kids to view the fireworks without having to be held up to see over the wall. We did buy one drink there, but we were too tired to hang out long. We also had a pool day, and the kids loved the pool. The mini-slide was perfect for DD4, who went down it over and over and over. We stepped into the Community Hall just to check it out. It was nice, but much smaller than I envisioned.
TRANSPORTATION: We walked to MK the first day, but our kids love the monorail so much that they talked us out of walking the rest of the trip. It was a very nice walk. We also took the boat to the Wilderness Lodge for breakfast once, and that was also nice if a little longer than expected. We took the bus to Studios one day, and it was surprisingly fast (we had stayed at AKL last winter and hated the buses).
MISC: It did rain non-stop one day, and here was our only complaint about BLT: they did not have a good way to handle the water on the BLT bridge. I personally saw 2 people fall since the wimpy mat they had was no match for the rain that blew onto the bridge and then was tracked into the elevator area of BLT's 5th floor. Luckily a CM saw the second fall and immediately worked on the issue. He first piled up towels on top of the mats, which offered more traction. Then within a couple of hours, they found a more permanent solution with better mats.
If you have specific questions, let me know. I plan to do a trip report and update the BLT view thread as soon as our hard drive issues are resolved.
Overall, we love BLT and can't wait to return. We are very happy with our purchase.
