I couldn't find any posts on this, but got an email from my guide today that BLT has officially entered the final phase before sellout.

There was an offer attached -- if I add points now, I would receive backdated 2010 points to bank into 2011 for 2x the points to use on my next vacation.

Not sure if that offer is for everyone, but thought I'd share the info.

I would add on to BLT if the price or incentives were right for me. Other than that I would like to buy BCV. I've yet to find that contract that works for me, mostly because I want to stay with my UY (April) and just haven't found the contract I want. Most of the time they are stripped and life is too short to wait over a year for points.

I noticed April was hard to find, and those that I found were stripped or too many points. (This is true for every resort)

Yep you are right. The only thing out there now are stripped contracts and that is of no interest to me. I guess I'll be sitting back and watching. No hurry since I don't think I could make the Mar. 20 deadline anyhow, but I do own at 3 homes right now and have 710 points, so I have it covered. I just have a real itch for owning at the BCV, though I've always managed to get in there when I've wanted. I use my BWV points for F&W, just looking for some other options. I would add on at BLT if I got a great offer. I don't see much of a savings on the resale market vs direct buy for BLT esp. if you compare the closing cost vs no closing cost when buying a smaller number of points (100).

I saw a pretty good deal on 100pt BLT contract about a week ago asking $95/pt Apr UY w/ 100 banked 2010pts (all '11 &'12.)

I wish we were/would have been ready to pounce.

I am new to this DVC stuff. What do you mean by "stripped contracts"?

That means you don't get any current points and sometimes you'll only get very small amt of next year's points.

Of course the "final phase before sellout" may last a year. Didn't they tell us this over and over and over and over again before the last "sell out"? :)

It's all marketing designed to create a sense of "urgency" IMHO

If they actually said we have less then 2,000 points then I would sense "urgency" but "final phase" means "the next push" to me!

(Come to think of it, according to some guides this was suppose to be sold out by last summer :) )

What is the price per point?

As of Wed, $130. We were told the price per point is going up on March 6th to $140. That is of course, w/out any discounts; for add ons below 100 pts. DH and I had planned on adding on a small 30 pt contract to give us an even 200 while we were there this week. Unfortunately we were not on the same page. I wanted to add on at BC or BW to give us another option for 11 month priority, shorter contract didn't bother me. DH wanted to add at our current resort, BLT. We told each other before we left and each thought the other would say "ok." Neither of us wanted to budge so we didn't buy. The guide we spoke to (new to us) said that they were on target to sell out by May. But, we took that with a grain of salt.

I have to agree with your husband on that one. You probably should have just got BLT. If you are only purchasing 30 points, that is not going to get you much at BC or BW. It does you no good to have the 11 month window if you don't have enough points to do anything with them. Unless of course you thought that by having points at another resort, you would be able to use all of your points at the 11 month window. You can only use the points you own for that particular resort at the 11 month window, not both of the resorts combined. You can only combine them at 7 months. You may already know this, but thought I would give you the info just in case you didn't.

Agree, even with banking and borrowing, 30 points is small. But 200 points at BLT would be exponential in comparison.

I have June 2-5 at BCV in a studio and it totals 56 points.

We own 30 points at BWV, I agree that only 30 at one resort is tough to use. I have had a couple of offers to buy, but its paid off and I think that I just might wait and add on 100 more at BWV in the next year or 2.

That offer is an offer of NOTHING.

In plain English, you are simply receiving the 2010 points you are buying, because you're still in your 2010 Use Year. They are not giving you a thing.

If your banking deadline has passed, they will allow you to bank the points anyway. There is some legitimate value to that benefit, but it's very small in terms of the overall life of the contract.

The price right now for 100 point add on is effectively $110 per point. $130 minus $13 minus a $2 incentive, plus a $500 visa gift card. So that's $130 minus $15 = $115. For 100 points, that's $11,500, but you get the gift card, so it's $110. Got that math figured out?

Actually? I just cleared ROFR on a 100 point resale for $97 per point today. Nothing else in my UY is coming up on the resale market, so I just took the leap and also bought two-50 point contracts direct today for $11,500 plus the $500 visa card. So I've added on 200 points this week at BLT.

Since it's heading up next month to $140, I doubt we'll see this low of direct pricing ever again. I'm just thinkin'...

Don't forget to add the closing too. When I crunch the numbers I add that cost to resale. I know there's no closing buying direct, but if you pay $400 for closing on 100 points, then I add $4 per point, so your resale was more like $101 a point.

Silly question here. However if I buy a 50 pt contract at BLT how does this work to get a week at the 11 month window? I have 200 pts with GCV. Can I transfer the points to the BLT contract to make reservations? Thanks in advance. We are still new just bought last summer.

So it would not be worth the smaller contract since we always stay a minimum of 7 days in a 1 bedroom.
