Does the newest BLT declaration give me a better chance of my waitlist for a two bedroom villa at the BLT in October. We have a one bedroom reserved but are hoping on a two bedroom. I saw that they declared villas on March 21st. Should this have already helped my waitlist if it was going to?

Thanks for any info or opinions

Yes, the declaration should help waitlists clear. Kind of depends on your dates, though. (FWIW, I would think it would make difference for October). It does take some time for the inventory to be loaded so your waitlist could still come through soon, even if the declaration was made on 3/21.

Even if it doesn't, I would guess that your chances improved, since some ahead of you should have cleared.

Good luck!

This is encouraging....

I want BLT for the first two nights of our October trip so I waitlisted for both a MK studio and a LV studio. I'm hoping that one of them comes through. It is only 2 nights, Thursday and Friday, and I would be happy with either view. If we don't get it, I'm already booked in a savanna view studio at Kidani so I will be in my happy place:cloud9:.

Perhaps, but perhaps not. DVD made the new Declaration on 3/21/2011, which means that as of that date up to 96.04% of BLT can be booked by Members using points. Before 3/21/2011, only 92.15% could have been booked by Members. So, in that respect, this latest Declaration might help your chances.

There are now 3 more Grand Villas and 6 more 2-bedroom villas in the DVC inventory, which is the equivalent of about 11 2-bedroom villas. However, DVD might have anticipated making this Declaration months ago and let Members reserve those additional villas months ago, as long as those reservations started on 3/21/2011 or later.

I expect DVD to make the final Declaration at BLT within the next 8-12 weeks, which will bring the last two Grand Villas and eight 2-bedroom villas into the DVC inventory. But since I don't know when DVD effectuates these Declarations for future bookings purposes, its possible Member Services has already taken future reservations for those villas.

Nevertheless, good luck on getting a 2-bedroom at BLT. We have stayed twice at BLT and we love the resort.

There is something in the Member Benefits Guide which is called the "PreOpening Program" which seems to give DVC the right to project these declarations before they are made and set inventory accordingly.

Here is a part of the description of the Preopening Program:

Members may reserve accommodations at a DVC Resort ("DVC Accommodations") and exchange those accommodations for a reservation of accommodations being constructed by DVD or which have not yet been declared to the condominium form of ownership.

The entire "program" appears to serve as a legal basis for allowing members to pre-book accommodations which are not yet part of the Condo Association.

Nobody has ever tracked the declarations as extensively as wdrl, but going back several years there has been some acknowledgment of when the amendments are filed. I've yet to witness any wave of waitlist success coming in the wake of a new declaration. And DVC cannot easily pull-back inventory from CRO...particularly if the rooms have already been booked by cash guests!

My suspicion is that DVC makes educated guesses 11 months out as to what percentage will be declared, and sets the points inventory at an appropriate level.

I am waitlist for blt 1 bedroom on July 3 and 4th.

Should I switch to a two bedroom? Would that increase our chances now with the new declaration or the expected one in the next few weeks?
